Well, the Smashing Pumpkins are the best band in the entire world! They have so many talents, it's hard to describe them accurately.
But here's a short bio, provided by Marcelle:
Once upon a time, in 1988, a young man named Billy Corgan decided to go to a club with his friend, James Iha. Billy was a bit discouraged, as his last band, The Marked, had failed. While walking out of the club, the two men met a woman with an attitude, D'Arcy. Promptly, D'Arcy and Billy got into a fight. But then Billy found out she played bass guitar, and he just turned the conversation around and asked, "Wanna be in my band?" D'Arcy said she'd think about it. Luckily, she said yes. So the Smashing Pumpkins were born. At first, they only played gigs with a drum machine, but then a club manager said, "I can get you a drummer." That's how they met Jimmy Chamberlin. Soon, they released a single (I Am One) with Caroline Records. They became popular quickly, and soon the band had an album, Gish. They toured for Gish, and started writing Siamese Dream. They toured for Siamese Dream too, and made a movie of several performances, called Vieuphoria. They took a little break for awhile, but released Siamese Dream's b-sides on Pisces Iscariot. Then, they made their biggest selling album, a two-disc set named Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. They toured for that as well, but partway through the tour, their temporary keyboardist and Jimmy overdosed on heroin. Jonathan (the keyboardist) died, but Jimmy was alright. The rest of the Pumpkins fired Jimmy, and took on their friends as replacements. They did work on many soundtracks after that, including Batman and Robin, Lost Highway, and Ransom. Finally, they released Adore, their newest album. They toured a few dates for the H.O.R.D.E. festival, but now they are in the studio.
