Playing: Egyptian 5

This is one of several banners I have made as part of the
Goddess 2000 Project. These banners measure 21 X 32 inches and are made out
of a polycotton blend fabric. I found a wonderful millennium print with 2000
all over it.
Other fabrics I have used were a dark blue background with yellow stars
and spirals of white, also mottled shades of dark blue appearing to look like
a night sky.
I chose the traditional color of the three phases of the Goddess for the
figures; white for the Maiden, red for the Mother, and black for the Crone.
The figures stand approximately 8 inches tall. They are all basically the
same figure in the "Drawing Down the Moon" stance. I wanted to show a
physical difference between them not just color changes. The figures are
gathered beneath a full moon measuring 7 inches in diameter.
All of the appliqués were first ironed on with a lightweight
"wonder under" material. I wanted these to hold up to weather and if
necessary washing, so I finished them by machine sewing around the edges of
the appliqués.
