AN IRISH BLESSING

  May your neighbours respect you
may your troubles neglect you
The angels protect you

   IRISH BLESSING

May there always be work for your hands to do
May your purse always hold a coin or two.
May the sun always shine on your windowpane.
May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain.
May the hand of a friend always be near you.
May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.

May the music of the meadow
with its songs of silver streams
Bring sunlight to the paths you walk,
and magic to your dreams

May you live all the days of your life,
and May the saddest day of
your future be no worse
Than the happiest day of your past!

   AN IRISH TOAST

May you have food and raiment
A soft pillow for you head.
May you be forty years in heaven
Before the devil knows you're dead

But not too many toastings
Lest you lose yourself and then
Forget the good St. Patrick
And see all those snakes again.

Always remember to forget
The things that made you sad.
But never forget to remember

    WHISKEY

St. Patrick was a gentleman
Who through strategy and stealth
Drove all the snakes from Ireland.
Here's toasting to his health.

I have a few good reasons for drinking
And one as just entered my head.
If a man can't drink when he's living,
how the hell can he drink when he's dead?

May you have
Walls for the wind
And a roof for the rain,
And drinks beside the fire
Laughter to cheer you
And those you love near you,
And all that your heart may desire

   A POEM ---

(By Ralph Waldo Emerson)

Finish each day and be done with it.
You have done what you could;
Some blunders and absurdities no doubt
crept in
Forget them as soon as you can
Tomorrow is a new day;
You shall begin it well and serenely.

   LETTER FROM A FRIEND

Dear Friends
I just had to write to tell you how
much I love you and care for you.
Yesterday I saw you walking and
laughing with your friends;I hope that
soon you'd want ME to walk along with
you, too. So I painted you a sunset
to close your dayand whispered a cool
breeze to refresh you. As I waited you
never called, I just kept on loving
AS I watched you fall asleep last night,
I wanted so much to touch you.
I spilled moonlight on your face tricking
down you checks as so many tears have
You didn't even think of me; I wanted
so much to comfort you.

The next day I exploded a brilliant
sunrise into a glorious morning for you.
but you woke up late for work--you
didn't even notice. My sky became
cloudy and My tears were the rain.
I love you. Oh if you'd only listen.
I really love you. I try to say it in
the quiet of the green meadow and in
the blue sky. The wind whispers My
love though out the treetops and spill
it into the vibrant colors of the
flowers. I shout it you in the thunder
of the great waterfalls and compose
love songs for birds to sing to you.
I warm you with the clothing of My
sunshine and perfume the air with
nature's sweet scent.

My love for you is deeper than the
ocean and great than any need in your
heart. If you'd only realize how I care.
I dead just for you. My Dad sends His
love. I want you to meet Him. he care
too, Father are just that way. So please
call me soon. No matter how long it takes,
I'll wait because I love you.

Your Friend

Jesus

   AN IRISH BLESSING

May joy and peace surround you,
Contentment latch your door,
And happiness be with you now
And bless you evermore.

May God grant you always...
A sunbeam to warm you,
A moonbeam to charm you,
A sheltering angel, so nothing can harm you.
Laughter to cheer you,
Faithful friends near you.
And whenever you pray,
Heaven to hear you.

  THE IRISH DANCER

I am of Ireland,
And the holy land
Of Ireland
Good Sir,pray I thee,
For of saint charitie'
Come dance with me
In Ireland

(annonimous 14th cent.)

  THE SHAN VAN VOCHT

Oh! the French are on the sea,
Says the Shan Van Vocht;
The French are on the sea,
Says the Shab Van Vocht;
Oh! the French are in the Bay,
They'll be here without delay,
And the Orange will decay,
Says the Shan Van Vocht.

And where will they have their camps?
Says the Shan Van Vocht;
Where will they have thier camps?
Says the Shan Van Vocht;
On the Curragh of Kildare;
The boys they will be there,
With thier pikes in good repair,
Says the Shan Van Vocht.

Then what will the yoemen do?
Says the Shan Van Vocht;
What will the yoemen do?
Says the Shan Van Vocht;
What should the yoemen do?
But throw off the Red and Blue.
And swear that they'll be true
To the Shan Van vocht?

And what colour will they wear?
Says the Shan Van Vocht;
What colour will they wear
Says the Shan Van Vocht;
What colour should be seen
Where our fathers' homes have been
But our own immortal Green!
Says the Shan Van Vocht.

And will Ireland then be free?
Says the Shan Van Vocht;
Will Ireland then be free?
Says the Shan Van Vocht?
Yes, Ireland shall be free,
from the center to the sea;
Then hurrah for Liberty!
Says the Shan Van Vocht.

(popular song (18th cent.)

  The More You Give

The more you give, the more you get.
The more you laugh, the less you fret.
The more you do unselfishly,
The more you live abundantly,
The more of everything you share.
The more you'll alway have to spare,
The more you love, the more you'll find
That life is good and friends are kind.
For only what we give away,
Enriches us from day to day

   AN IRISH BLESSING

He who loses money, loses much;
He who loses a friend, loses more;
He who loses faith, loses all.

Always remember to forget
The troubles that passed away.
But never forget to remember
The blessings that come each day.

AN IRISH BLESSING

May God grant you always...
A sunbeam to warm you,
A moonbeam to charm you,
A sheltering angel,
so nothing can harm you
.
May God grant you many years to live,
For sure He must be knowin'
The earth has Angels all too few
And Heaven is overflowing

AN IRISH BLESSING

May those that love us, love us.
And those that don't love us,
May God turn their hearts.
And if He doesn't turn their hearts,
May He turn their ankles
So we will know them by their limping.

AN OLD IRISH WEDDING BLESSING

May God be with you and bless you
May you see your children's children
May you be poor in misfortune, rich in blessings
May you know nothing but happiness
From this day forward

    AN IRISH BLESSING

May the road rise to meet you
May the wind be always at you back.
May the sun shine warm upon you face.
The rain fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palms of His hands.

   HUGS

It's wonderous what a hug can do,
A hug can cheer you when you're blue.
A hug can say, I love you so
Or, I hate to see you go.
A hug is 'Welcome back again!'
And 'Great to see you!' or
'Where've you been?'
A hug can sooth a child's pain,
And bring a rainbow after rain.
The hug! There's just no doubt about it,
We scarely could survive without it.
A hug delights and warms and charms.
It must be why God gave us arms.
So stretch those arms without delay
And give someone a hug today...
