Apple Rings

2 red apples
1 c. water
1 c. sugar
3 Tbsp. red cinnamon candies

Do not peel apples. Remove cores and slice apples crosswise in 3/4-inch slices. Bring sugar and water to boil; stir until sugar dissolves. Boil 4 minutes with candies in syrup. Drop in apple rings. Cover and simmer until apples are tender
