Dear Lizard Types

Newsletter time is here again! Hurrah! This is where you get to hear about the exciting world of The Lizards! I know its been a while since the last newsletter, but we have been very busy types... as you will discover!

TURKY R.I.P.
It was with a sad heart that the Lizards took to the stage of the Alleycat on July 1st, for there we were to see Turky for the very last time. We bravely did "our thing", including two new ones ("Outer Space" and "Charmer") which went down well. Then, all too soon, it was time for Turky's last ever gig. The final hour of Turkyish Delight was well recieved featuring such irresistable favourites as "Well, I Tried", "Monday" and "Exhibit J". The crowd were treated to a big finale of "Romotopia", "Kiss" and the Turky manifesto "Wish". And then it was over. Possibly forever. Woe is us.

The gig was video taped and hopefully I'll be able to lay my hands on a copy of it. I'll let you know how it turns out.

NEW WEBSITE UPDATES
Yes, that's right... I've finally got off my arse and learnt HTML and have extended and generally tarted the website up (check out those flashing lizards... wooah!). It's still being worked on, but its worth a look if you are a bit bored. Remember to leave as message on the guest book. Most comedy/random/filthy ones get listed in the newsletter. If you have been to the site before and you dont empty your browser cache, then be sure to press the "Reload" button on your browser to see the updates. If you have been to the website before and dont know what the last sentence meant... be sure to press "Reload" on your browser!

WEDDING
The last gig we played was a private affair up in the wilds of Bristol. We laid down the tunes for the celebration of the marriage of Ruthski's sis Pip & her stalwart chap, Gary. It was a belter! We wish them all the best for the future and are forever grateful for the free booze. I've put some pictures of the band playing that particular event at the following URL:

There's even a shot of the groom swigging from a bottle of whisky directly prior to taking the stage with us to do a guest vocal spot. What a night!

STUDIO
With our pockets stuffed with ill-gotten gains from a number of gigs, we stumped up the cash for a day in the studio recently. It worked out great, if a wee bit tiring, and the result are to be heard! We recorded three tunes... two new ones and an old favourite...

Outer Space
With You
Landing Soon

There is still a little post-production work to do, which should be completed in the next week or so.

The tapes will be available for general consumption following mix-down and duplication. Interested parties should stay tuned (though we are accepting advance reservations!). We decided to put it on tape, rather than CD to keep the end price down, but a few CDs are being made. If anyone wants this stuff on CD, drop me a line and I'll see what I can do. When I get the final mix, I'll try and shove a few samples on the website. Smart!

NEW GIGS
New date for the diary:
Friday Sept 4th - Another legendary Prince of Wales gig. Remember the last one? I dont! Beer mayhem and lager shinanikins all round! Plenty of crashing space at our house for those who want to, and possibly a post-gig barby/party the following day. What more could you want? More details plus other gigs to follow later.

COMPETITION
Ah yes, the competition. As you may remember, we asked you to tell us what you thought The Lizard sounded, mainly like as a cheap vehicle for good qoutes to put in our press pack.

Well, the competition was fierce but after long discussions, the winner was...

(drum roll)

James Wright!!!

Who correctly answered the question and came up with the following tie-breaker...

"I think Electric Lizard sound like a mosterously enjoyable orgasm."

... and who are we to argue with that??? Though it does raise some questions as to his sexual habits, I suppose.

Anyway, moving quickly along, the prize is being dispatched a.s.a.p. and hopefully we can pass that quote off as coming from Noel Gallagher/Lemmy/Barbera Cartland (depending on where we're sending the press pack).

Look out for another competition soon, in which you could win a copy of the new demo tape!

Well, that's all the news that fits for now.

Hope you are all keeping well

Cheers

Matt

Thought for the Day:

"There are people who disagree with me-- crucial, important issues, and
we'll disagree! Now I could accept this a lot better if they were
miserable, but many of them lead happy, productive lives.
This disappoints me more than I can tell you."
