Koster's Curse
Clidemia hirta
The Melastomes represent a vicious group of encroaching plants
native to South America. The family includes such problem plants
as Miconia, Tibouchina, and the Brazilian Melastome. Clidemia
is a beautiful plant but proves no good for forage or any uses
that I can discover. It is found very weedy and wild in low-land
wet areas of Hawaii.
