There is a time for everything,
a time for every purpose under heaven.
A time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to uproot the plant.
A time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to tear down and a time to build.
A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn , and a time to dance.
A time to scatter stones,
and a time to gather them;
A time to embrace,
and a time to be far from embracing.
A time to seek, and a time to cast away.
A time to mend, and a time to sew;
a time to be silent, and a time to speak.
A time to love, and a time to hate;
a time of war, and a time of peace.
-Eccles. 3:18

Be careful when you look for a friend,
for one sort of friend
is a friend when it suits him,
when you need him, he will not be there.
Another friend can turn into your enemy,
and bring you shame.
Another friend, a boon companion,
will be at your side in sorrow,
then he avoids you.
A faithful friend, though, is sturdy shelter,
a treasure when he is found.
A faithful friend is beyond price,
no sum can measure his worth.
A faithful friend forever brings you life.
-SIR 6:7-16
