The 80 Citation I replaced it, didn't have a great reputation, but we kept it for almost 100,000 miles with few problems. Since then Gina and I have had good luck with finding some great used car values.
Among our favorites was a 88 Toyota Tercel we purchased with only 16k miles on it, and a 2003 Hyundai SanteFe with only 10k miles on it. We still have the Sante Fe and it serves as our main vehicle when we need room, or to haul something. We also loved our 98 Dodge Caravan, till it got totaled. More on that later as well.
Growing up in 60's I had a love for the Ford Mustang. I still have two HO scale Mustangs from my old slot car track my parents gave me for Christmas. (Again, I'll see if I can find the photos.) By the time I was old enough to get a driver's license, Ford had turned the Mustang into a ugly looking girly car not worthy of the Mustang name. (see below)
The 80's weren't much better, some muscle returned, but still ugly, the only thing uglier was anything made by American Motors.
The idea of getting a sports car didn't return for many years. Our daughter Melinda got her license around the year 2000. Her dream car was a Blue Mustang. The 2001-2004 years the mustang was getting better looking, but we didn't have the interest. Melinda would have loved this car.
Then came the restyling of the Mustang for 2005. The resemblance to the late 60's is unmistakable. We fell in love with this car. This year, being empty nesters, and for the first time in awhile, we both had good jobs. We were in need of another car, the time was right for something new that didn't have to be practical. No, Louise, it wasn't a mid life crisis, I'm not 50 yet :P It was late in the 2007 model year and the deals were flying, but the inventory wasn't great, but here is what we ended up with.
Thats it, its a 2007 Mustang Pony with a 200HP V6, 17" wheels, Perelli tires, Fog lights, Exterior trim, 6CD changer AM/FM stereo with 6 speakers.
I've never had anything except a factory radio, but even for a factory system, I think this one is pretty good.
