The movie introduces the characters of the series, and revolves around a school fair to recruit new members for their club Akindo, where they make their own "goods" (clothes, objects, video games) and sell them at a flea market.

Although Gokinjo Monogatari is by the same manga artist as Tenshi Nanka ja Nai, the art is quite different. Gokinjo Monogatari characters are lankier, and the colors used are brighter. They wear funky clothes too, but that's because they're all artists.
