Merrin Thistleknot's Journal

in which, I, Merrin Thistleknot, tell you, the reader, about kender.

"Whew! I thought I'd never loose that band of ogres. Not to mention those goatsucker birds. There must of been about 50 of 'em! I'm too clever for them, though. And I'm back just in time to make sure you know where the fun is. My name's Merrin Thistleknot, of the Kendermore Thistleknots. Ever been there? It's such a great place. You know, I haven't been there in a while. Maybe we should go visit. We could see my cousin Tawny, who by the way is really my second cousin twice removed from the river, ('cause a load of toads kept makin' her slip,) and her dad, who also happens to be my uncle, although I don't think he's been in that particular river before, so he's not removed at all. Anyway, I . . . What? This is your dagger? Really, you shouldn't leave it lying around like that. Someone might steal it. You're lucky I found it first. Your welcome. Now come on, we'd better get going before we miss anything."

What is a kender?

A kender is a creature from the world of Dragonlance, and the creation of Margeret Weis and Tracy Hickman, the authors who brought that world to life. Some would call them tall halflings, with some mischief thrown in. Some would call them over enthusiastic elven children. Everyone else would just call the guards. Why? Because kender are curious. A lot. They get their hands into anything and everything they find. And don't bother locking your door, they are all excellent 'locksmiths.'

"Wait. Why the quotes around locksmiths?"
"Um...so the readers know that kender are really, really good locksmiths."
"Oh. Okay." (Pause) "That seems to happen a lot."
"What? Quotes around the word 'locksmiths'?"
"No. People calling the guards."

More to come...

To The Raven's Nest.

You are non-kender visitor number . (You try and keep track of how many kender come and go anywhere!)

If you have any questions or comments, or if you happen to see Merrin, please, please tell me, he still hasn't finished this page.

Ok, I updated the email address today, June 17, 1999. Yeah it's been a LONG time. I hope to add something to this page starting soon...

I wish to give some credit to Kipper Snifferdoo and Sean Macdonald as Merrin seems fond of their pages, and visits there often. He always seems to return with something insisting I add it to our pages.(I've learned to humor him.) So thanks to them. You can visit them at The Kencyclopedia.

This is in appreciation to:
Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman for their wonderful stories I enjoy so much, and though I remain skeptical, (I can't help it, change is difficult), I hope they continue through the Fifth Age and beyond.
