Use the "Ask" command when one is present Girl: This is the girl you named at the beginning. She travels with you at different points during the game. Attack: None Ask: She incrementally recovers your HP. Man: He helps you in the Cave of Marsh, and steals the Girl when you reach Wendel. Attack: Throws Fireballs Ask: He explains the wide, wonderful world of wall breaking. Watts: You run into him in the Silver Cave. Later on he sells you the stuff that he made from the Silver you won (like that's fair). Attack: Throws Axes Ask: He sells you items. Bogard: He's the old Gemma Knight that gives you your very first Mattock. You meet up with him after emerging from the Gaia Cave. Attack: Sword Ask: He explains the Max Attack to you (frightfully late for that). Chocobo/Chocobot: You find an egg north of Menos, and this weird bird pops out and chooses you as its new mother. Later on, he wounds himself carrying your unconscious carcass to Ish, whereupon Dr. Bowwow outfitts him with mechanical legs, giving him the ability to swim. Being the loving master you are, you forbid him to go into any cave, building, town or the Snowfields. Attack: None Ask: You get to hitch a ride. Amanda: Your old slave friend from Glaive steals your pendant from you in Menos, and takes off toward the Cave of Medusa. You find her there, and fight alongside her until you get to Medusa, who bites her. You kill Medusa, and then Amanda and take her tears. Attack: Throws Daggers Ask: Amanda heals you of Stone. Lester: Amanda's brother who had been turned into a parrot. After using Amanda's tears on him, he goes with you to destroy Davias. Attack: Shoots Arrows Ask: He changes the background music. Marcie: You meet this robot in the Dime Tower. After ascending to the top, Marcie throws you over to Glaive Castle and plummets along with the Dime Tower. Attack: Fires Lasers Ask: Marcie completely recovers your MP. -------- Tips, Tricks, and Other Cool Stuff -- To enter the Cave of Medusa, go to the desert oasis that has two single trees one space apart. Do a figure eight around the two trees, and the cave should open. -- There is only one way to cure the Moogle condition. You must have your Chocobo with you to do this. All you have to do is select "Ask", and then "Ask" again. Otherwise, you will have to wait for the effect to wear off, and that could be deadly. -- After you have the Morning Star and Ice Magic, you only need to keep X-Ethers, Elixirs and Keys in your item inventory. Everything else is taken care of with a weapon or magic. -- Have Cure magic handy whenever fighting a boss. Every boss can easily be defeated with a weapon. -- The Whirlwind sword attack does not take off 2x damage like the other Max Attacks do, but you can hit a single enemy repeatedly until he dies. This is excellent for bosses that move in straight lines. Please send all comments, questions, or corrections to: jacato@nmsu.edu
