What is Fushigi Yuugi? Well, the title translates into "Mysterious Play". There is no way I can explain the full depth of the storyline in a paragraph or two (later I will have a summary section), nor would I want to give it all away. ^_^ The series consists of 52 episodes and two OVA Volumes. The story itself is wonderful, and you never expect some things to happen. It has sad parts that are REALLY sad, along with romance, comedy, sword fights, sorcery, and lots of other types of action. Each episode contains more and more plot, and I highly recommend this to anyone!
Oh, and something I will explain, you will here these terms alot, and should know what they are talking about if you're new to it all:
Suzaku no Miko--is the Priestess, the "in-betweener", to the people in Konan Country, and the deity they worship, Suzaku(southern God). Miaka is the Suzaku no Miko, and you can then figure out what Yui, the Seiryuu no Miko, is as well
The Universe of the Four Gods---the book of which Miaka and Yui are trapped within, and where the story takes place. Reading the book is like reciting a spell, which is what drew them into it in the first place.
Seishi--literally, a constellation. So the Suzaku no Miko must find the Shichi Suzaku Seishi (Seven Suzaku Warriors), or in other words, the constellations in the Suzaku section of the sky. Each constellation is in fact, a warrior in Konan.
I think I'd better start some sections to explain it all, but at least you can get a very basic idea for now...
