  • I had the great pleasure of meeting for lunch with Alan Clutter (see MailBag, page 10) in August, 07. We had corresponded a few times and he happened to be in town, so we planned to meet and had a very pleasant visit.

Hey, Alan! I hope it was as good for you as it was for me - to shake hands, share a meal and talk about the old days, that is.
If I'm ever in Kankekee, Illinois I'll look you up and return your kindness!

    "Hi Mick,
I just wanted to take time to thank you for all the work you have done on behalf of the 9th. I think it turned out really great. What a great opportunity for guys like me to look back on some pretty good years. All those wonderful photos that the guys sent in really sparked some fine memories of what a great outfit the 9th really was. I made some good friends there, even though Okinawa was not exactly a tropical paradise. I remember the men of the 9th got along, and looked out for one another. They were a special group. I'm hoping that more of them will find the website. It sure would be nice to get in touch with more old friends. Again, and I know I speak for all of us when I say thanks. I'm fowarding a copy of this email to all the others that I have in my address book."

  • Harry Hollis - SeaBees
I'm worried about Harry now. I haven't heard from him in many, many weeks and we were working on getting a translation going on a Japanese soldier's diary that had come into his possession. If anyone knows how Harry's doing, please let me know! Mick
