IN LOVING MEMORY

Bentley, our loving friend and companion.

Bentley passed away on 18 Oct 99 from heart failure, he was 12 years old. He touched many people with his loving demeanor. We are very saddened that he has left us. We were blessed by God, to know and love him. He will forever remain in our hearts. Until we meet again, my old friend..until we meet again.

"God Bless Our Pets"

They say memories are golden, well this may be true.

I never wanted memories, I only wanted you.

A million times I've needed you, a million times I've cried.

If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died.

In life I loved you dearly, in death I love you still.

In my heart you hold a place, nothing could ever fill.

If tears could build a stairway, and heartache make a lane,

I'd walk the path to heaven, and bring you back again.

Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same,

but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.

We were missing something in our lives when Bentley passed away, so we started to look into adopting another four legged friend. Bentley was adopted from our local Animal Shelter, when he was 5 months old.

Our local Shelter is not one of the easiest places to deal with, and are under sanction by the State, for many errors and failure to abide by state law for the care of the animals in their charge. We travelled there in hopes of finding another friend. We attempted to adopt a 9 month old black Lab female we found there. We were advised that we were second in line to adopt Missy, and we were told; "You probably won't have much luck getting her." We submitted the adoption paperwork anyway. About six days later, Kim called the Animal Shelter to find out what the status was. Kim was advised that Missy was adopted, but the people brought her back, as there was a conflict with their current dog.

When Kim inquired if Missy was still there (at the Shelter), a staffer couldn't even find Missy in the Shelter! Kim was under the impression that the staff had put Missy to sleep! They finally locate Missy, and Kim immediately left work and drove to the Shelter.

When Kim inquired why we were not told that Missy was returned to them, she did not receive any answer. They advised us, when we were filling out the original adoption papers, that should the first adoption not work out we would be immediately called. We heard nothing from them. Kim inquired about the status of our adoption paperwork for Missy, and they could not find any paperwork on our wanting to adopt Missy. Kim AGAIN filled out the paperwork to adopt Missy. When Kim finally saw Missy, Missy had a pretty good bite mark on the inside of her right ear, but it was healing nicely.

After much arguing with the inept Shelter staff, and the hassle of getting previous vet records on Bentley (faxed to the inept Shelter staff THREE times by our Vet, and hand delivered ONCE); to show we take care of our animals...we were granted adoption of MISSY on 3 NOV 99!

I immediately began to treat her bitten ear with salve, and we made a vet appointment. Upon our Vet's examination of Missy, we found that she is in fine shape, full of energy and love! Missy was spayed while at the Shelter, and there is no problem with that operation. She is in excellent health, with a beautiful shiney black coat! Missy is eager to please; learn; and chew!

While nothing will ever replace Bentley, Missy is now a part of our lives, and we are having a great time teaching, learning, and loving each other!

Our newest member of the family, Missy!
