The NAB Karnataka Branch was started in 1977 in Bangalore. 

It is registered under Karnataka State Societies Registration Act 1960, 
with Registration No.S.379/78-79. It is also registered under Foreign 
Contributions (Regulations) Act 1976, Serial No. 094420162. 

Donations to NAB are eligible for tax exemptions under Sec 80G of 
the Indian Income Tax Act. 
 
The NAB is a non-governmental, non-profit, voluntary organisation 
that focuses on the socio-economic rehabilitation of the visually 
handicapped.  A one-of-a-kind organisation, NAB provides the 
infrastructure and a wide range of services for the general welfare, 
education, training and placement of the visually handicapped.

The aim of the organisation is to train the visually handicapped to be independent, self-reliant and self confident. NAB provides them with comprehensive rehabilitation in its complex at Bangalore.

NAB runs the following projects and services.

1. NAB mobility training center, Bangalore.

2. NAB Rehabilitation and Basic Training Center for adult blind, Bangalore.

3. NAB Technical Training Institute, Bangalore.

4. NAB Industrial Training Center, Mysore.

5. Employment and Placement Services, Bangalore.

6. Community Based Projects for the Rehabilitation of the Rural Blind, Rural areas in Karnataka.

7. Integrated Education Program for Urban and Rural Blind Children, Urban and Rural areas in Karnataka.

All these services are rendered to the blind free.
