Dorothy has run away after Toto gets away from Miss Gulch. She runs into someone who will change her life forever...

Here we get our first look at a man who, as a professor and later as a wizard, is good at only one thing - the con. He really does not know any "crowned heads of Europe". He claims to have a magical crystal ball, but uses the old close-your-eyes trick to look at a picture Dorothy has to find out things about her, her family and their farm. And he uses them against her to get her to "go away and leave him alone". Sounds like some words the wizard later speaks...
Dorothy does head back to the farm, just as a storm seems to be building...
