PROFILE

Lanard Copeland is one of four Tigers with nba experience (Bradtke Gaze Copeland), but out of them all he played the most. His game is very much suited to the NBA, a prolific scorer, a high leaper, a great defensive player. He plays the game above the rim, often hooking up with backcourt mate Andrew Gaze for the alley-oop. He burst on to the scene in 1992 with an awesome scoring average of 29.0ppg, second on the team behind Andrew Gaze. Copeland had an unbelieveable schedule in his first two seasons with the Tigers, playing the off season in France. But now he is an Australian and in two one and a half years will be eligable to play as an Australian. This will open up numerous options for the Tigers or if they don't resign Copeland when he becomes an Australian he will be very valueable on the free agent market. He has had fairly steady averages in his career but the only inconsistency came in 1993 when his average dropped from 29.0ppg in 92 to 20.4ppg in 93. However he steadied his scoring in 94 and came out smoking in 95 with a 25.0ppg season average. He has been involved in both Tigers Championships playing an integral role in both. In 1993 against the Perth Wildcats Copeland came up with 36 points in Game three to give the Tigers the championship. In 1997 he played three superb games, leading the finals scoring tally and gaining the Finals Series M.V.P. .
