                      A Legendary Career Comes to An End
COLORADO - Patrick Roy announced yesterday that he will retire fron the National Hockey League.

Patrick Roy will play in his last game tonight against the Philadelphia Flyers from the Pepsi Center on ESPN.

" I'll be glad to play in front of my home fans, that supported me here in Colorado " said Roy.

Patrick Roy will leave the NHL as the all-time winningest goaltender ever. Plus he has played in 1,276 combined regular season games thru 18 seasons in the NHL. He leads the NHL in every goaltending category in franchise history including games played (478) , minutes played (28,317) , wins (262) , gaa (2.26) ,and shutouts (37). He also added a record for most 30-win seasons with four. Roy also has four Stanley Cups, (two in Montreal,two in Colorado) , three Conn Smythe Trophies (1986,1983,2001) , five William Jennings Trophies ( 1987,1988,1989,1993,2001) , three Vezina Trophies (1989,1990,1992).

Patrick Roy single-handidly paved the way for goaltenders like Jean-Sebastien Giguere, and Martin Broduer.

" This was a tough day for me, but its a decision in wich i took a long time to think about and reflect on it " said Roy.

" When the opportunity to aquire a player like Patrick Roy presented itself in 1995 , I was very confident in the player we were getting " said Pierre Lacroix( Avalanche GM )

Roy will leave the NHL with a 9-6-4 record midway thru the season on nhl2k3.
He is 7th in the NHL with a .927 save % and 10th in wins with 9.
