The film FLASH MAYNARD is (C) copyright 1968 and 1996 by Richard Rivera and Randolph Nesseler. This web site and its contents is (C) copyright 1998 and 1999 by William M. Kaffenberger, Jr. "Flash Maynard" was a great unsung detective genre spoof released in December of 1968 by Royal Films. It was filmed at various locations in and around Washington DC and Northern Virginia between the summer of 1966 and December of 1968 when it was finally completed, edited, and released on a limited basis to a largely unsuspecting film public. As is often the case with independent productions, lack of consistent funding led to the lengthy completion process. While never widely seen, it nonetheless remains a true classic of the genre. The level of talent utilitzed in the production was astounding when you consider that the talent pool was only from among actors and actresses located in the Northern Virginia area.

Royal Films had been known primarily as a maker of low budget independent horror films when the idea was hatched for a detective spoof with a twist ending. While the original script has long since been lost, a plot summary is provided here----> PLOT SUMMARY: Within a twenty-four hour time period, the nefarious master criminal Mr. Big threatens the world with complete destruction via a deadly chemical which will poison every ounce of water on the planet. Only the intrepid ace detective Flash Maynard stands in his way. Flash Maynard hazards many perils in pursuit of Mr. Big culminating in a climactic showdown at RFK Stadium in Washington DC. The film has an exciting finish and a surprise ending. ***** LOTS OF GREAT PHOTOS DOWN BELOW UNDER THE CAST OF CHARACTERS and SPECIAL LINKS!!!!! *****
