Excerpts from Jimmy Fink's interview with Pat Benatar for Rolling Stone's Continuous History of Rock and Roll:
"I guess if I had to pick the one thing that I really love the most, it would be live performance. "It just seems that it's the one thing that never gets old, the one thing I never get tired of. Believe me, the road is a grind. It's exhausting to be out for months, living in hotels and traveling every night. But the one redeeming factor that keeps you goina is that you get to play live. That's what I miss the most when I'm not touring; the spontaneity, the electricity, that thing that happens between performer and audience, that something you don't get in the studio. The studio gives you something entirely different. What you get is the self satisfaction of knowing you've done the best you can and you've captured it forever on vinyl. Live performance on the other hand is only for the moment. You really never know what's going to happen. You don't ever know how the audience is going to react, whether they're going to be absolutely asleep, or wild and chaotic. That's the challenge, getting out there and doing it every night, reproducing what you did on vinyl ... only better ... because it's for the moment."
