BUT FIRSTLY I`D LIKE TO TELL YOU A LITTLE OF MY FAMILY HISTORY.

INTRODUCTION

Descendants of Hendrikus Verhees and Petronella Linders (Paternal Side) and Arend Vredenburg and Wubbina Stoffers
Both the above families came to England at about the turn of the century. The families lived a few doors from each other in "Dutch Row", Moorends, near Thorne in Yorkshire. My great grandparents, Janna Goutbeek and Hubertus Verhees became sweethearts, much to the dismay of Janna`s parents who were Calvanists of the Dutch Reform Church. They married in 1909 and had their first child in 1910. My grandfather, Peter Verhees was their second child born in 1912, and they had 12 children in all.

The families came to England to work on the moors as peat farmers as there was no work for them in Holland. They had come over from Someren in Noord-Brabant.

I would like to find out more about Arend Vredenburg and his descendants and Wubbina Stoffers and her descendants, and I will reply to everyone who writes.

Now I`ll introduce you to my own little family. I am Nicolette (nee Verhees), married to Colin Megainey, and we have four children - Catherine, Darryn, Karen and Coleen. We live on the"not so sunny" south coast of the UK.
