NIGHT VISION NEWS AND VIEWS
May 22, 2001 -- 3:00pm
Don't stop linking to me please! I'm back :) Tripod deleted my site.
Bleh. I don't know how long it's been down but I worked like mad
to get it back up as soon as I found out. No L.J. news yet.
August 23 1999 -- 7:44pm
Many thanks to Art Pro Web Design for surprising me with an award
recently! I'm fairly in awe of the fact that people keep visiting
my site (despite lack of updates - but I'll blame that on the lack
of new L.J.Smith books ;) And I'm very grateful for all the awards.
June 5 1999 -- 1:50pm
Faye very kindly offered me an award for excellence in web design.
Thanks for thinking of Night Vision!
March 31 1999 -- 8:50pm
Thanks to Daylily's Garden for surprising me with a lovely award!
I'm honoured.
And thanks to Fudge for pointing out an incorrect link on the
Author page. All fixed now :)
March 12 1999 -- 5:30pm
No new LJ books yet. Only news is, I've finally started setting up
a page for Crispy Creations, my own little graphics & web design
business. I guess I have to call it a business, but pardon me if
I giggle as I do so :P Or maybe I should guffaw. Yeah, it feels
pretty pretentious, but I'm doing it. Because I enjoy making
websites, and I've been told I'm good. (And believe me I'd have
to be told that over and over before I took any notice of it.
I'm so terribly modest ;)
So go visit my temporary coming-soon page if you're curious. Thankee :)
January 5 1999 -- 7:30pm
Been ages, I know. But I've been busy and Strange Fate still isn't
out so there's been no inspiration to work on this site. Today I
went through and did some Tedious Technical Touch-ups. I adjusted
the javascript so descriptions no longer linger when you move your
mouse away from a link. Woo-hooo huh? :) Well it just gives the
joint a little more class, methinks :P Tell me if I missed a spot.
Oh, also signed up for some nifty new counters and tracking devices
so I can spy on...um...I mean...be in touch with my beloved visitors
;) If anybody still visits :P hehe...well I'll find out soon enough :D
August 29 1998 -- 11:26pm
Made a new website doo dah doo dah! On the Links page.
August 20 1998 -- 4:47pm
Another award! The Team Creations Star Site Bronze Award and it's
even personalized with the name of my website! Wowowow! Thanks Rita!!
August 18 1998 -- 2:22pm
First of all, I wanna thank Chantel for the Women Webmasters award!
Second I want to let everyone know that I won't be able to work on
my webpages for awhile, cause my monitor is getting so dark I cant
see what I'm doing! :( I've only had it a year but the darn thing
is already deteriorating. So I'm trying to get in touch with a
technician to come look at it and fix it. I have no idea how long
it will take, so excuse my absence. "Don't forget me when I'm gone!"
Okay I know I said I couldn't do anything with my monitor like this,
but I can still see things fairly well if the background is white,
and so I've been going through the HTML for this site and adding
width and height attributes for the images, to make the pages load
up faster. Cause I noticed it kinda takes awhile. :) Anyway I can
do that much at least...though I can't see well enough to make new
graphics yet. :/
August 15 1998 -- 3:33pm
Hey I'm so excited! I've just joined the L.J.Smith Link Exchange!
Yaaaay! What a great idea it is! A way to attract more visitors
to your site and all that...if anybody's reading this (haha I
doubt I have any "regulars" since I so rarely update this page...
thats what I get for not revealing it until _everything_ was DONE!
I guess I shouldn't have shown all my cards at once, or however
the saying goes, I'm not a gambler, I dunno!) anyway if anyone's
reading this, and you have your own L.J.S. page, I say, join! :D
And I'm sure you'll listen to me cause I'm such a charismatic
leader. NOT!
Anyway you'll find the banner for it here on my page. :)
August 10 1998 -- 3:30pm
Added a link to my new homepage Crispy's Corner. It's sort of
a central place where I link to my web-projects and favorite sites.
You can also see photos of me and my friends (that's in the works).
Ooops I scared you all away now right? ;)
August 1 1998 -- 8pm
Found a Feminist webring that I just had to join. :D
I love the way the ring leader expressed her ideas and purpose.
No I'm not sucking up 'cause I'm still waiting to be added. ;)
July 31 1998 -- 1:54pm
Just joined my own webring..heehee..The Word Weaver's Webring. It's
for sites containing creative writing and/or tributes to writers, so
if you have a page like that, go read the other qualifications and
good luck! Thanks to everyone who's joined so far...It's an honor
having you in my ring :D
Where oh where is Strange Fate?! Seems like I've been waiting forever
for L.J.Smith's new book! When it does arrive you'll see something
new on this site, since I think I'll feel motivated enough to write
a review of it. Maybe all this suspense is a good thing after all. ;)
Speaking of new things, I'm working on creating an award to give out.
It will probably be called The Visionary Award (how original :) but
that's all I know so far. Keep checking back if it sounds interesting
to you. I'm sorry I haven't been making any significant updates here
lately. I've had some personal problems that have been distracting to
say the least. So I want to create and give out an award to outstanding
websites, partly to apologise for this negligence. (grovel grovel :)
July 26 1998 -- 10:45pm
Thank you Glenn for giving Night Vision the GA's Bronze Award! The
graphic's on display here if you want to see it. It's one example
of the great graphic design Glenn does. Visit his site for more.
July 25 1998 -- 12:50am
I'm sort of involved in a website called Ripping Time. I haven't
really done much for it actually, but I'm crazy about the idea.
Go visit and see what I mean. My new friend Sienna made the stunning
graphics. Including the banner which I just added to my Links page.
July 24 1998 -- 6:15pm
This is now an Ace Awards 7 Star Site!! Seven really IS my lucky
number! :D Thanks again for the honor Trevor...
July 24 1998 -- 12:38am
Created a banner for Night Vision. You can see it at the bottom of
this page as well as the Links and Awards pages. My computer's monitor
is wearing out however and not as bright as it used to be so I can't
really see what I've done! haha. Oh I have some idea but still can't
see it the way everyone else will. Gotta get a replacement monitor.
Meanwhile forgive me if this banner is ugly; when I get a proper look
at it I might cringe and make a better one. Anyhoo this is one reason
I haven't been making graphics lately. Bear with me :)
July 15 1998 -- 8pm
Joined the What's Your Freaking Sign? webring. Hehe.
Check out the neat graphic on my Links page.
June 29 1998 -- 2pm
Scanned Heart of Valor cover and created a page for it. So go
read the summary, and order it from Amazon.com if you like.
June 28 1998 -- 4:13pm
Uploaded scanned cover for The Forbidden Game 1: The Hunter. Yes I
already had that cover here but it wasn't from my own book since I
didn't have that book at the time. But then I found it. I mentioned
it before but only recently got around to scanning, retouching, and
uploading it to my page.
Won an Award of Elegance also. Thanks alot Xung! Added the graphic
to my Awards page.
June 24 1998 -- 8:22pm
Joined the Shadow World club today, as StormQueen. I'm in their
webring already so I figured what the heck :D Check out the site
-- great design!
Oh I also joined Circle Sunlight using the name Solaris. Nice
contrast to my Shadow Worldly persona huh? ;) Well what can I
say...I have split personalities. :P
June 23 1998 -- 6:45pm
Exciting stuff! First of all, I've found Heart of Valor!! I had a
psychic flash that compelled me to visit Value Village today.
(a second hand store) And there it was in the used books section!!
Yaaahooo! I'm excited! I've read this book before, borrowed from a
library, but that was years ago and I never thought I'd find it
again. And now I have it for my very own!!!!
My life's a little nuts right now but as soon as I can I'll scan the
cover and put it on this page, along with the summary of course :D
Second piece of news: Night Vision has won another award! It's
called the Critical Mass Award and you can go here if you want
to see the image on my site. Thank you so much Bill Darling!
(that's his last name - I'm not just gushing ;)
June 22 1998 -- 7pm
Back from my trip! And what a nice surprise awaited my return...
Night Vision has won it's first award!! Yippeeee! It's called:
Best of the Web 1998 - The Bronze Award. Go here if you want
to check out the site that gave it to me.
Anyway I've created an Awards page and linked to it from the
bottom menu you see everywhere on this site. Have a look-see :D
June 11 1998 -- 2:44pm
Joined another webring! Doo-Dah--Doo-Dah! The site looks interesting,
links to occult & psychology stuff. So check out the Ring of the Moon.
Only four more days and I'm in Vancouver! Oh-doo-dah-day!
And thanks Sienna for linking to me :D **Smooch**
June 4 1998 -- 5pm
I spoke too soon. heehee. About not working on this page for awhile.
It suddenly occured to me that I should check my email account for
this site and it's a good thing cause I was invited to join a webring!
A first for me :D I'm very honored. So you'll find a new ring on my
Links page. Thank you Order of the Dark Rose for thinking of me!
While I'm thanking people, thanks Tripod for the 11 free megabytes
of webspace!
June 4 1998 -- 12:30am
Circle Twilight has accepted me into it's ranks. Woohoo! So now I
can officially refer to myself as Hellewise A. Witch. Heehee.
Want to let everyone know: I'm going to my best friends wedding soon!
So I'm kinda swamped with working out travel arrangements & shopping
for Perfect Gifts, yada yada, and besides that, too giddy to think
of anything else. So my point is that my websites are gonna have to
be put hold on "pause". Cobwebs would probably look good on this page
though ;) Don't expect anything new here until after June 20th kay?
May 30 1998 -- 2:30am
Discovered a wonderful site called Web Guard. Go there! Please.
They stand for protecting the rights of those who create websites.
Protecting eachother and showing people how to protect themselves
from Bandwidth Bandits (people who steal things from other's sites,
or link directly to their files, without giving credit or asking
permission. I've had some problems with this before...people linking
to my work and making it look like their own, so I know the feeling
first hand. And I'm proud to be a part of Web Guard! (Can you hear
the trumpets? I can ;)
Check out their site for lots of useful copyright info and tips on
how to secure your original work, whether it be graphics, writing,
midis, etc. PLEASE GO!
Support them (and help yourself) by joining their webring. or just
put one of their nifty badges on your site (like I did). OR just go
soak up the good advice. I wish i'd found this site before, cause
it counsels you on how best to deal with people you discover are
ripping you off.
May 29 1998 -- 11:44pm
Lots of news! First of all I found the first volume of the Forbidden
Game yesterday! Had a hunch I should go to the bookstore and check
that particular shelf, but it's a miracle and I really didn't expect
to find that book! I tried to order it before but was told it was
unavailable. Lord knows how it got there. Maybe they found it in
the back storage room or something? But I asked them to check there
before! (with no results)...Yes I'm obsessed ;)
Anyway I had the story itself already, in my copy of the Forbidden
Game Collectors Edition, which has all 3 volumes in one. But I still
wanted the original first volume. And now I've got it! Soon I'll scan
the cover and put it up here.
Today I submitted my site to the Blessed Darkness Webring, but I'm
not sure my site is dark enough for it ;) Ahh well, I'll give it
a shot anyway! I also worked on the Links page, and joined some Pods
here at Tripod. (No it has nothing to do with "Invasion of the Body
Snatchers" ;) Pods are...groups of websites according to topic, and
they're communities too I guess, with newsletters, chat rooms, etc.)
Anyhow, I joined the Book Talk, Fantasy, and Goth & Vampire Pods
today (and added graphics for them to the Links page.
May 27 1998 -- 8pm
Well it took all day, but I'm finally finished linking to L.J.S.
books at Amazon.com. Just click on the Amazon logos at the end
of the book summaries to go directly to that book at Amazon. I
even linked to the ones that are out of print, because they're
willing to hunt around for used books for people. Also the pages
all have book reviews on them that readers submitted (and you can
submit your own too). I'm having fun reading all the comments. I
thought those reviews alone made it worth linking to Amazon :)
Heck you could probably meet fellow L.J.S. fans that way too,
since many of the folks who wrote reviews, included their email
addys and encouraged people to write to them.
May 27 1998 -- 1pm
Need to hook up with Amazon.com so I can link to their L.J.Smith
books for sale, so visitors to my site can order them from here :)
Submitted my site to some webrings and signed up with Amazon. Now
I have to add links to them on my site :)
May 26 1998 -- 8pm
Yes you are allowed to be in more than one L.J.Smith club. yaay!
Have to write an essay for the Author page and I'll be able
to make this site public at last.
May 26 1998 -- 4:14pm
I've joined Circle Daybreak!! I still plan to join Circle Twilight
too though, if people are allowed to be in more than one club. And
I think they are. Anyway I just requested the member name: Euterpe,
(even if it does look a little bit like "You Twerp" ;) ...simply
because it says on the site that she's the Muse of music and lyric
poetry (both of which I love). I hope the nick Hellewise is still
up for grabs at Circle Twilight, cause I have my heart set on it.
May 26 1998 -- 2:12am
Well not much news right now, seeing as this whole site is new.
haha. I'm trying to get this presentable ...fast. If I just had
a whole day uninterrupted to work on it...sigh.
Well as for what's new with L.J.Smith,...I'm only one of many fans
who's impatiently awaiting her next Night World book: Strange Fate.
The book itself seems to be experiencing a strange fate (groan),
since it was supposed to come out this Spring and now it seems to
be delayed til August. I don't think I can stand the suspense!
I'm planning on joining a few of the Online Clubs revolving
around L.J.S. I've applied to Circle Daybreak, and I think I'll
try to join Circle Twilight too, if they'll have me. :D I'm just
waiting until I have this site ready before I join, because I
want to be able to give the url for it since there's a space
for that in the application form. But I can't make the url
public until I'm proud of this page and feel it's ready ...
soon soon... {maniacal cackle}
