Chapter 6

-Beth- As soon as I walked into the house, the phone rang. Assuming it was going to be Taylor, I ignored it.

"Beth! Phone!" my mom called up the stairs. Since the phone in my room wasn't installed yet, I picked up the extension in the hallway.

"Hello?" I asked.

"Hey!" it was Alicia. Well, I definitely wasn't expecting it to be her. "What's up?"

"…Well…"

"Explain." She demanded. "No wait. Don't even tell me that you went over to his house."

"You read my mind." I confessed.

"Beth!!" she squealed. "I told you that he was a player! How many times do I have to tell you that?"

"I know, I know. You told me so many times, but I need to find out if I still like him or not. That's why I went over. We were so close to kissing--"

"Whoa, rewind for a second. Kissing? Where the bell did that come from?" she asked.

"You can't understand what we had together. It was indescribable. And ever since I've been back here, I can't help but think 'what if'?"

"So kissing him would give you the answers?" she asked.

"Lish, he told me that he loved me." I blurted out.

"Woah, seriously?"

"Yeah, seriously. I wasn't expecting it either. But when he said it, I knew that I still love him, too."

"Oh God, I never want to fall in love if it involves things being so complicated." She said.

"And I have to kiss him to see if I still feel the same about him. But, Ike interrupted us." I said.

"Good ole Ike. Now, what are your feelings on the charming older brother?"

"I told you before … he's like my brother." I lied.

"You filthy liar!!" she exclaimed. "I know there's something going on between you two! I'm not blind! You just have to realize it yet."

"Yeah, okay, whatever." I mumbled. I knew that I was keeping the truth from her about my feelings for Isaac. But why should I make my feelings for Ike public information when he doesn't like me back?

"HEL-LO!?" Alicia shouted.

"What?" I asked.

"I asked you a question."

"Oh, sorry. I was thinking."

"About Isaac's sexy body." She said. I giggled. Before I could say it, she replied, "Yeah, yeah, I know. You hate me."

-Taylor- "Ike!" I shouted. His eyes finally came out of the weird stare that they were in for the past 5 minutes. "Ok, that's better. You were startin' to scare me."

"Oh, sorry." He said, bringing his knees up to his chest. He looked down and then quickly up again. A sly smile swept across my lips.

"Ike?" I asked.

"Hmm?"

"Stand up." I commanded. Fear struck his face.

"Stand?" he questioned. I nodded. "I, uh, I can't. My leg is, um, my leg is asleep. Actually, both of them are." He shifted nervously in the chair that he was sitting in.

"Yeah, right." I said, looking down in my hands. My newest song. It was about the color blue. Well, that was the 'in depth' meaning. Only the color blue, but it could be related to basically anything in the whole world. That's how my brothers and I were different. When they write songs, they are always blunt and straight out. But when I write songs, it always has hidden meanings or really powerful words that make you think about the meaning.

A few minutes passed before Isaac got up to see what I was writing. He leaned over my shoulder and read a few lines. I had to smile because it had been so obvious before.

"Shut up." He threatened.

"But I didn't say anything." I laughed.

"Don't smile, either!" he demanded, picking up a pillow and smacked me with it. I suddenly got a flashback of Beth and me when we had a pillow fight one time. We had gotten into so much trouble because all of the feathers had fallen out of the pillows. We even had to clean up the mess, too.
