“Come on Ang, wake up.” I could faintly hear someone saying. Even though their voice was barely above a whisper, it was too loud for me. It hurt my ears. I heard them repeat their words. I tried to open my eyes to see who was talking to me, but they hurt and would not open. Slowly, I tried to open my eyes again because the voice that was talking to me was so soothing and it sounded like they cared. Finally, I opened my eyes, and even then, it was blurry. Objects came into focus and the bright lights hurt my eyes.

“Are the lights too bright?” the voice asked as I squinted my eyes shut again. I nodded, and heard the person get up and shuffle their feet around on the floor. And though my eyes were closed, I could sense the light change to a darker setting. Whoever it was seemed to care a whole lot. They returned to my side and clutched onto my hand again.

I opened my eyes again and everything became clear. I was laying in a bed, not a comfortable bed, but it was still a bed. The overhead lights were turned off and I looked at the person who was holding onto my hand. A boy, about 15 years old I was guessing, with long blonde hair and amazing brown eyes.

“Ang? Do you feel alright?”

Who was this person? How did he know me? He certainly didn’t look like anyone I should know. I blinked slowly, I was tired. I still looked around the room and I breathed heavily. With my deep breath, I closed my eyes.

“No, the doctors want you to stay awake. Try to stay awake.” He begged, patting my hand. I pulled my hand away, not wanting him to be with me. I didn’t know who he was.

“Who are you?” I tried to ask him, but my voice was weak. I cleared my throat and repeated the question. The look on his face was unforgettable. His eyes were wide and he looked crushed.

“Who am I?” he asked me. I nodded, wanting to know who this mysterious, but very attractive guy was sitting next to me, begging to keep me conscious. “Zac.” He said.

Zac?

“Do I know you?” I asked him. Again, the look of dread swept over his face and he looked close to tears.

“Ang, come on, don’t play jokes right now.” He sorta laughed. I pretended to be in on the joke and I laughed with him. With my laughter, he looked relieved. I still had no idea who this kid was and to be honestly truthful, I really wanted to know. “Okay, don’t fall asleep. I have to find a doctor and tell them that you’re awake. I’ll be right back.” He said and left the room.

I tried my hardest to remember. But what was there TO remember. I closed my eyes again, not going to sleep, but only to think and try to remember who this person was. He seemed to be upset over whatever there was to be upset about. He looked extremely concerned about me, too. Maybe he was my brother? Or my boyfriend? Or just a friend?

Still with my eyes shut, visions came back into my head, as if I was watching a movie or something. I could see him, this boy, Zac as he called himself. We were together, in what looked like a treehouse. The vision was short, lasting only a few seconds. I reopened my eyes and saw that he had returned and there was a doctor with him.

“Well Angela, it looks like you had quite a bump on the head, eh?” the doctor said. Um, sure, I guess.

“Yeah, I guess so.”

He smiled. “Well, with the rate of your awakening, you could go home tonight. I see no need to keep you over the night. Just be sure to call the hospital if you experience any dizziness or nausea, which are quite common side effects. We’ll call you when we need to see you again, ok?” he explained. “Take care.”

“This is great! You get to come home tonight!” the boy exclaimed. He looked sincerely happy. I smiled and nodded. I felt a little uneasy as he leaned over and kissed my lips, but I allowed it. Even though he was a stranger, I didn’t mind that, not at all!
