I Want You - Chapter 6

I walked home from Zac's house with my head full of thoughts and curiosities. To get to my house, I would have to pass Bobby's. As I approached his house, I noticed that he was outside, playing basketball in his driveway. He shot and made a basket, then looked over at me and smiled. A few drops of perspiration dripped down his forehead and his hair was a little bit wet. And even tho sweat is disgusting, he still looked really cute.

"Hey Ang." He said, and then wiped his face off with the bottom of his T-shirt. I smiled.

"Hi," I said.

"What's up?"

"Oh, nothing much." I said, but I wanted to tell him that I wanted to break up with him. But the truth is, I didn't want to break up with him. I wanted to kiss him and have things go back to the way they used to be. Well, to Bobby, nothing has changed, but there were totally different issues with Zac. "I was just walking back from Zac's house."

"Zac's house? What were you doing over there?" Bobby asked, but it sounded more like an accusation than a question.

"Bobby, he's my best friend. I'm allowed to be at his house, aren't I?" I asked.

"I guess but - I dunno. I don't trust the boy." Bobby said. "But I do trust you."

"Then why are you questioning me?" I interrogated, then smiled as he stepped closer to me. He wrapped his arms around me and then kissed me. How in the heck am I supposed to do this? I put my hands on his shoulders and pushed him away.

"Was there something wrong with that?" he asked, looking a little hurt that I had pushed him away. I bit my lower lip and slipped away from his grasp. "Ang, what's wrong?"

"I need to tell you something, but you have to promise not to get mad about it." I said. Confusion spread over his face. "You have to promise."

"I can't promise anything, but I'll try." Bobby said. I took a deep breath.

"Well, there was nothing wrong with your kiss, but see, it sorta has to deal with a kiss." I started. Bobby patiently waited for me to explain the rest of the story. "The truth is, Zac kissed me."

"Kissed you?" Bobby asked. I nodded and looked down at the ground. "When? Just now?"

"Weelll, yeah, sorta."

"Sorta? Either he did or he didn't!"

"Yes! Okay? Yes, he kissed me when I was at his house today." I said. Bobby looked shocked.

"How? I mean, how could you let it happen?"

"It just happened. I couldn't stop it." I said.

"The little ass wipe! What the hell, Angela?! Why? You're my girlfriend! Oh God, what kind of kiss was it?" The questions kept on coming.

"Bobby, I know you're mad, but"

"Mad? Oh, I'm not mad, I'm insanely pissed! He knows that you're my girlfriend! You know I'm your boyfriend! Why'd you do it? What kind of kiss was it, Ang?" Bobby demanded.

"It … wasn't just a peck." Was the only info I offered. Bobby threw the basketball against his garage door. The bang was so loud that it scared me. I never saw him this mad before.

"I need to know this … did you kiss him back?" he asked. I shrunk back as he said the words and with my silence he knew the answer. "How could you do this, Ang?"

"But Bobby, I'm here now. That's why I left! I just, I mean, it wasn't you. What Zac and I share is nothing more than friendship. But what we share," I said, taking his hand in mine, "is special."

The confused and hurt look disappeared from his face and he smiled. Then he kissed me. I never felt so guilty in my entire life! I liked Bobby a lot, but I loved Zac in a way that no words could ever describe.

"So, you didn't do it?"

"Mic! I couldn't! If you would have saw the look on his face, you would have died right then and there." I said, lying on my bed, hugging my pillow.

"No, you're wrong. I would have died when Zac kissed me." Micculla smiled. I smiled, too.

"But you just don't understand. Things with Bobby are sorta basic, like they'll always be there. But when I'm with Zac, they seem forbidden. It's almost like the thrill of getting caught that makes it so much better. It's really hard to explain."

"You're din' a fine job. Keep going…"

"I dunno what else to say." I said.

"Okay, here's how I see it…You're going out with, no wait, going steady with Bobby Rictor - an older and total hottie. And then your best friend in the whole world telepathically tells you that he loves you and then you start to like him. Am I right so far?" she asked. I nodded. She continued, "Alright, so you and your best friend, who just happens to be a seriously slammin' hunk-o-male, not to mention, is Zac Hanson, and now you are feeling the same feelings, like sexual feelings for your tight boy-next-door bud that you also feel for your honey? And now you might wanna break up with the cutest and most popular guy at Bridgecrest in the whole 9th grade and take chances with one of the most sought after 13 year old drummers in the whole world?" I nodded again. Micculla bit her lip. "Damn girl, it sucks to be you."

I picked up my pillow and smacked her with it. "Thanks, but I was actually anticipating some good advice!" I complained.

"Ok, advice…you like Bobby?"

"Yes, I like Bobby! A lot!"

"But, you love Zac." She said.

"Yeah." I said. "I want them both. I know that it's really selfish, but I really like Bobby. Too much to break up with him. And then there's Zac. I love him too much not to get together with him. And I can't do both because that would just be wrong, but I really want to do both of them!"

Micculla started laughing. I smacked her with my pillow again.

"Shut up, you perv. That's not what I meant and you know it, too."

Almost supernaturally, the song "You Make Me Wanna" by Usher came on the radio. I pulled my hands over my mouth and gasped.

"What?" Mic asked.

"The song! Listen to it!" I turned the volume up. We listened to the words. "You make me wanna leave the one I'm with and start a new relationship with you…" the chorus went.

"Oh my gosh." Mic said. "I never really listened to the words before That is so your situation."

"Yeah, I know, and unfortunately, I've come to a decision." I said. "That song was either a sign or a really scary coincidence."
