Chapter 3 - Central Park

When they walked into their room, I was blown away by the size of it. It was huge! There was a living room, I could see three bedrooms, another door on the other side of the living room that was probably another bedroom, kitchen and a dining area.

"There's the phone." Taylor said, pointing to the living room. "I'll go get my paretns."

"Actually, you should get some peroxide on your arm first. You don't want it to get infected, do you?"

"You sound like my mom." Taylor said, rolling his eyes.

"Who sounds like me?" his mom asked, coming out of the door in the living room. She gasped. "Jordan! What on earth happened to your arm? Go in the bathroom right now and clean that off! You don't want or need an infection! Now go!" Taylor looked at me, then with a shove from his mom, he went into the bathroom. Jordan? I thought that his name was Taylor. His mom looked at me and smiled. "Who are you?"

"That's Bronwyn, mom." Isaac said. "Taylor nearly killed her when we were roller blading. Then she had enough decency to help him after he tripped over a bench. So, we told her she could come back here with us to call her dad and tell him that she will be home a little later than planned. Hey dad! Do we have any tickets left?" Isaac got up and went to find his dad.

Diana shook her head. "Those boys...I tell them so many times to be careful on those dreaded things. So, Taylor didn't hurt you?" she asked. I shook my head. She nodded, happy that he didn't hurt me. There came a crash from one of the bedrooms. Diana got up, ran over to the doorway and then out her hands on her hips. "Jessica! What did I tell you about jumping on the bed?"

Geeze, how many kids were in the family? As if to answer my question, a little girl ran through the living room and into the other room connected to the living room. She was sobbing. Then came a little boy, chasing her, carrying a headless Barbie in one hand and the head in the other hand.

"Daddy!!" the little girl screamed. "Mackenzie ripped Barbie's head off!"

Out of nowhere, Zac came running into the living room with a bath towel tucked into the back of his shirt, wearing it like a cape.

"Come Robin!" he said into a make believe translator on his wrist. "To the Batcave!" He made a mad dash and jumped over the back of the couch, then ran in the hallway. I laughed. Taylor came into the room and sat down next to me on the couch.

"How's the arm?" I asked. He showed me the bandage. "Very nice."

"So, how do you like all of the hectic chaos around here?" he asked, smiling.

"Um, it's loud." I said. "How many brothers and sisters do you have?"

"Well, there's Ike, me and Zac. We're the oldest. Then there's Jessica, Avery, Mackenzie and Zöe." He said it so fast that I almost couldn't keep up with him.

"I'll have to get you to write that down."

"Aye-aye captain. We've spotted the savages. Going on attack in 3 seconds." We both heard Zac in the background. I braced myself for the worst, then arms wrapped around Taylor's neck.

"Zac, what the ???" Taylor shouted, pulling Zac's arms from around his neck. "What the heck are you doing?"

"Attacking the savages." He said simply. I laughed. Then he reached over and gave Taylor a noogie. "And my master plan is working!" he laughed. He got up and took off in full speed in the opposite direction.

"Get back here Zac before I cut every single braid off of your head!" Taylor yelled, getting up to chase his brother, leaving me alone in the living room. I muffled a small laugh. Things sure were hectic around here!

Things quieted down a little, so I decided to call my dad. "Dad? Yeah, I'm okay. No! I'm not in jail!" I said. Then Zac came running through the living room, screaming as Taylor chased him with a pair of scissors. "Yeah, I'm sure I'm not in prison. I met these guys in the park - No! Dad, listen to me. I met the music group Hanson and I am in their hotel room right now. I'll be home soon. And for the last time, no, I am not in prison!" I said, then hung up the phone.

Isaac walked in next, carrying something in his hands. "Hey, I talked to my dad and he said that you deserve these." He said, handing me a concert ticket, along with a backstage pass and a merchandise certificate.

"For what?" I asked.

"For helping Tay out today and for nagging about the peroxide stuff."

"Oh, it's something natural. My mom's a nurse, so..." I said. "What time is the concert tonight?"

"7:30. Actually, we should start getting ready soon."

"Now? Why?"

"Well, with seven kids, you kinda have to start getting ready this early. Plus, we have to be there early for the sound check." He explained.

"Cool. I guess that I'll see you tonight, then." I said, getting up. "I told my dad that I would be home soon." Taylor and Zac came running through once more. "Bye guys!" I said loudly. Taylor stopped running long enough to wave, then he continued to chase Zac again.

As I walked home, with the ticket, backstage pass and certificate in my jacket pocket, I actually thought about the day. I was almost pulled over by Taylor Hanson. I yelled at him, he apologized, then fell on his face. I helped him up and was rewarded with - I pulled the ticket out of my pocket - 3rd row! Plus backstage! AND a merchandise certificate! I guess that being the Good Samaritan does pay off.

I got home about 10 minutes after I left the hotel. Daddy was waiting for me. "See? I told you I wasn't in jail." I smiled. He smiled, then hugged me.

"I know, I was only teasing you." He said. "Oh yeah, both Michelle and Jenni called. They sounded kind of anxious to talk to you. You guys didn't have plans, did you?"

"Not that I remem...oh yeah! We are going shopping. Good thing. I want to get a new outfit for the concert tonight."

"Concert?" Dad asked.

"Yeah, Hanson gave me a 3rd row ticket! How cool is that?" I handed my dad the ticket. "Plus, tomorrow or Monday I need to go school shopping."

"Can't you go school shopping with your mom?"

"Da-ad! You know the stores at home are crappy! I love shopping here in New York! The things are so much nicer! Plus, Mom would never give me her VISA or MasterCard. That's why I love you more." I said, standing on my tiptoes, kissing him on the cheek. I walked to my room, grabbed my phone and dialed Michelle's phone number. She is going to flip out. She answered the phone.

"Michelle! Omgod, guess who I met in Central Park today!"
