Gladys Inez had no children of her own.

George James & Noma Marie had one child. Me.
George James Jackson served in the Army in World War II.
He then worked on road construction until retirement. He was an operator
on a "drag-line" and owner/operator of other heavy equipment.

My Grandmother,Beulah, raised me from age 2 thru 12. She sewed for
other people, using an old Singer treadle sewing machine.
She made most of my clothes, and very often, from flour sacks.
She did splurge on lace for my Pinafores.
She washed clothes with a wringer washing machine. She boiled the whites
in an iron washpot mounted in brick, in the backyard. Of course, she
always used "bluing". The clothes were always starched and ironed, using
a flat iron that was heated on the wood cookstove. The clothes always
smelled SO good. Like sunshine?
We had an "outhouse" til her death in 1953. We did have a cold water
faucet. And somewhere along the line, she replaced the "icebox" with a
refrigerator. And she replaced the wood cookstove & wood heaters with
gas ones.(sigh)
Some of my best memories are: sitting by a wood cookstove in the winter
reading my first book,"Bambi", eating "snow-ice cream", "lightening bugs",
locusts & june bugs & the smell of honeysuckle and roses.
George Cooksey JACKSON wandered off to TX after 1922.
