Joseph C. Northup was born the child of Henry Northup and Mary (Eldred) in abt 1721 in Providence, RI . Joseph was commonly known as Tailor Joe. He married MOLLY CONGDON; (b. 12 December 1728; d. 20 June 1786). Her parents were John Congdon and Patience Martz? John Congdon was descended from Benjamin Congdon II and Bejamin Congdon I.
Joseph Died in 1812, Aged 91 years.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: I have had some reports that his Father, Henry was married to Mary Cary and had one son Immanuel, but the evidence suggests the Immanuel mentioned is really the son of Henry and Mary Kingsley, who would be this Henry's Uncle. Some credit Henry as having been married 1st to Hopestill Smith. I totally discount this notion, but the ages of Henry and his wife Mary when the first son, Joseph, was born suggest that they both may have been married previously. Mary would have been abt 35 years old when Joseph was born.
