INTRODUCTION .....
Norwood Cricket Club (NCC) is a member of the Massachusetts State Cricket League (MSCL) which contains 16 teams, from all over the Massachusetts. NCC was formed in 1997 by a bunch of cricket enthusiasts. NCC did a great job competing against experienced and professional teams and won couple of awards. NCC was named as the “most promising team” by the MSCL committee. We as a team are excited and are proud to represent Norwood. Currently we have 25 players representing NCC and it is growing.

Mission

Provide an opportunity for club members to play cricket on a competitive as well as recreational basis. Field a competitive team to participate in MSCL. Develop a schedule allowing all NCC members to play cricket recreationally.

Whatever your skill level, there is a place for you in NCC. For those of you that are competitive and want to play competitive cricket, we have a League membership. There will be plenty of games - at least one per week from April to September. This membership category requires a firm commitment to regular practice and to be available for most Saturdays or Sundays or both for League matches. For those of you that want a more social atmosphere, a more relaxed game of cricket, we have a "Social" membership. This category is ideal for the beginner, the once-every-few-months cricketer, the older player or the less competitive person. If you are not sure which kind of membership is right for you, then please accept our invitation to come out and practice with us for a few weeks and perhaps watch a couple of League games. You will then be in a much better position to decide the level of participation you would like to commit to. At the end of your "test drive", please contact us more details. We provide all the equipment (bats, pads, gloves, helmet, balls) as part of your membership subscription. If you play in the League matches, you are required to wear a white shirt and long white trousers. It is advisable to wear athletic shoes that have some sort of traction soles since you will be running on grass in the outfield. Spikes are not permitted because of League standards and also all the grounds use matting wickets, a surface easily damaged by spikes.
