Wednesday 9th May

I'm writing this perched on top of a rock and my hands are practically shaking. I can see the ship from here! It's still a long way off, but at least we've found it. Finally!

On a more serious note, I kind of feel bad having written all that stuff about Kerstine now, particularly since she's lying dead in one of the main rooms of the Djivi-Kairos.

And particularly since she died because of me.

No, I don't mean that way! I wasn't the one who killed her. To cut a long story short, we came into the main room and got attacked by the Sisters Kray (oh god, now I'm using that nickname!) who had done some kind of spell to 'invoke the gods' as Puck said. Personally, I don't believe in all that crap...although I wouldn't have wanted to be hit by that spell. Whether or not I believe in the assassins' gods, I do believe in magic now (and I never thought I'd see myself writing THAT!)

Anyway, Kerstine took the entire force of the spell, disrupting it and knocking both the twins out at the same time. Corny as it may sound, she laid down her life for us. If it hadn't been for her, we'd never have made it through.

(Of course, if it hadn't been for her, we'd never have been taken prisoner in the first place...at least, I don't think so.)

More later. Following my talk with Christine I need to go and tell the Shiiran that they can't come to the ship with us. It seems kind of ungrateful, after all they've done, but Christine says if we don't give some kind of explanation, both us and the Shiiran will be shot on sight. Something like that.
