Arvel & Loise Long Arvel and Loise (McClure) Long were married February 1, 1917 in McDonald County, Missouri. Loise, born March 14, 1901 was 15 and Arvel, born March 15, 1898 was 18. On February 1, 1999 our Uncle Arvel and Aunt Loise Long of Rocky Comfort, Missouri will celebrate their 82nd wedding anniversary. These two people have left me and my sisters with many lasting and wonderful memories and still remain a very important part of our lives. My mom used to talk about how during the depression when they had very little money, Loise and Arvel would be there to help them through the bad times and how at Christmas they made sure there were gifts for the kids. My sister Maurine remembers when she was about 2 years old, Arvel and Loise taking her to buy a new pair of shoes. Wanda remembers washing all of those fruit jars and I remember that soft feather bed. Bobby remembers trying to fool Loise into believing she had taken a nap and Loise could always tell by looking at her eyes that she was fibbing. Bobby would pout and Loise would write it down in her infamous diary. Boy wouldn't we all like to have a peak at those! Thank you Arvel and Loise for being a special part of our lives.
