Eternal    Intergalactic    Excursion

January 14, 1999

There was a day
When the sun went away
It turned off its bright light
And immediately took flight
The world was dark and cold
Like in those stories you were told
It was laughing out in space
With the comets, had a race
Bathed in the infinite night
Gave off not a drop of light
Danced with the twinkling stars
Played chess and marbles with Mars
Skipped across galaxies on its way
In search of anything but eternal day
Something different, something new
It was boring staring at gray or blue
The sun and asteroids played many games
It literally took light years to learn all their names
One day they wanted to remove Jupiter's rings
They could play frisbee and all of those things
Everything was fine 'til Jupiter got cold
His rings kept him warm, since he was so old
A few light years passed by, and there was nothing more to do
As boring as staring at the gray and the blue
