Phoenix Vineyards' 1997 Sangiovese In The News

August 1st, 1999

Since it's recent release Phoenix Vineyards' 1997 Napa Valley "Blood of Jupiter" Sangiovese has been earning nothing but praise.

Noted on-line wine magazine WineToday.com gave the wine 3 stars out of 5 in May. In June it was awarded a Silver Medal at the 1999 San Francisco International Wine Competition. The judges panel for this competition was a who's who of West Coast Masters Of Wine, Master Sommeliers, wine writers, Food and Beverage Directors and other industry professionals.

Also, in the June 15th issue of The Wine Spectator the 1997 Sangiovese was rated 88 points. About the wine Spectator columnist Jeff Morgan wrote, "Bright raspberry, cherry, and spice flavors lead the way in this juicy, fruity wine, which is tempered nicely by herbal notes, good acidity and firm tannins...Fun to drink..."

And, most recently, in July Phoenix Vineyards' 1997 Blood Of Jupiter Sangiovese earned a Bronze Medal and the special distinction of Best Of Class Of Region (Best 1997 Napa Valley Sangiovese) at the 1999 California State Fair Commercial Wine Competition.
