Bible Club

Six faces stare intently at the quizmaster as twelve palms clasp buzzers tightly.
The intensity in the small room is almost unbearable, “Question number 10, for 20 points...” reads the quizmaster. Hands pound the buzzers as each quizzer hopes his or her buzzer will lite up first. For a few WWHS students, this scene happens every few months. It is called Bible Quiz.
Bible Quiz is a program in which teens are encouraged to memorize God’s Word from books of the Bible and then quiz on it. Yet, Bible Quiz is not merely learning and recalling information. “Bible Quiz is so much more,” sophomore Erin Shaffer said. “It is not just memorizing God’s Word, but it is also living it.”
Further, Bible Quiz is not just an isolated extracurricular activity; rather it is one that benefits students in scholastic areas such as study skills and vocabulary. “Bible Quiz helps me with my student habits by providing self-discipline,” junior Eileen Wankmuller said. “When studying for Bible Quiz, I practice good study habits.”
In a recent match at the Green Ridge Assembly of God Church, WWHS students earned excellent marks. Students achieving individual high scores were Ryan Bartle, First Place, Blue Division; Eileen Wankmuller , Third place, Blue Division; and Erin Schaffer First place, Gold Division.
