Chapter 4 Kelli and Anthony went to one of the holodecks where she ran her gymnastics program. There they stayed for six hours practicing her gymnastics and his martial arts. Kelli was a pro at this because her parents had coaxed her into the sport at the age of six. She asked Anthony to be her coach when she saw him training for one of his martial arts competitions that was going to be held on earth, five years ago. In the holodeck the room simulated the greatest gymnastics complex that ever existed on earth during the late twentieth century. "Hey Anthony, could you help me with this new maneuver?" she asked him from the mats at about twenty-one hundred hours. "Sure, what do I have to do?" Anthony inquired as he walked towards her, as she did a backhand spring, wearing a white, red, yellow, and black leotard. "Here help me to a quad-triple-double flip a Sitzinger double flip," she explained, "Anthony catch me if I start to rotate out of control." "All right," he said as he got into position. Kelli jumped what seemed like three meters in the air on the spring mounted mats, the maneuver had never been tried by any one in the gymnastics federation for over a hundred years after the stunt killed a person when they couldn't land it properly, and they fell and broke their vertebra in three different places. "Ahhh! Honey catch me quickly!" she screamed as her rotation went eschew and she started to rotate upside-down. "I'm coming!" Anthony yelled, running to catch her. He jumped doing a forward flip and rotated into a sliding position, that of a kantarian acrobat. He caught her just before she hit the ground, but as he caught her he felt a pull in his right ankle when he landed. "Ouch! ahhhhhh! It hurts! The mother fucking..." he yelled and trailed off into unconsciousness. "Doctor to holodeck five, there's a medical emergency, the captain's hurt!" Kelli yelled over the comm. system. The doctor came running into the holodeck with her med. kit. "What happened?" she asked with a worried look on her face. "I was attempting a Sitzinger double flip, when he tried to catch me. He must have tripped on something when he landed," Kelli explained to the doctor as she was looking at him with the tricorder. "He has a broken ankle and a torn Achilles tendon," she said. "Can you fix it doctor?" Kelli asked worried that he wouldn't be able to walk again. "Yes I can fix it, but I have to get him to sickbay. Bridge, two to beam directly to sickbay." the doctor ordered. In sickbay the captain lay unconscious on the operating table, while the doctor operated on his injury. When he came to, he was delirious, "What am I doing in sickbay!" he exclaimed, "Where's Kelli? Is she hurt?" "Captain, she's all right. You were injured while saving her," the doctor explained. "What happened doctor?" the captain asked. "You broke your ankle and tore your Achilles tendon, you will have to keep off of you right foot for a while. So I'm confining you to quarters for a week," the doctor ordered by overriding his rank. "I'll send someone to help you to your quarters captain." Kelli walked in and gave him a kiss for saving her from certain death when she almost wiped out attempting the stunt. "I knew that you would save me, my love," she said and expressed her love to him by giving him a long sensual kiss on the lips, while he lay on the bed. "The doctor ordered me to assist you to your quarters." Kelli helped him up and out of the bed and they walked out of sickbay and headed towards the turbolift. Anthony leaned on her shoulder as they entered the car and rode it down four decks to his quarters. When they reached the door they kissed and let him rest for the night. In the morning the captain talked to Commander Leeworth to put her in charge of the ship until he was able to walk properly. "Commander I am putting you in charge of the ship for a week so that my injury can heal, Doctor's orders," he said disappointed that he wouldn't be able to over see the work done to prepare the ship for the battle with the Dominion. While in his quarters, he was brushing up on his tactical knowledge of the Dominion, while they were docked at Deep Space Nine. The Dominion had developed a ship that was twice the size of a galaxy class starship and twice as powerful. The ship had destroyed a Defiant class starship named the U.S.S. Valiant. Commanded by the members of Red Squad, a group of elite cadets, which had special privileges over other cadets. There was only one survivor of Red Squad. The rest of the crew was killed trying to evacuate the ship when the mission went south. Their mission wasn't a total loss because they found out how to destroy the massive ship, by detonating a quantum torpedo maximum yield with a load of varion radiation which will turn the anti-matter storage support units to liquid. Although it didn't work the survivors gave the information to Starfleet where they will order ships with the new cloak to destroy the Dominion-Cardassian ships. * * * The week passed quickly with the captain able to sleep in, which he wanted to do for a while, after he was assigned to the position. Kelli was with him most of the time when she wasn't on duty, filling him in on all of the happenings on the ship. Doctor Kirrmanno inspected his ankle once a day, and today was the day when he could go back on duty. His foot healed nicely, now that he was well he went to the bridge to relieve Commander Leeworth and retake command of his ship. "Commander I am relieving you now. You can go and get some sleep or go to the Promenade and socialize with your friends," Anthony said nicely. "I'll see you a thirteen hundred hours, when we depart the station and heat to the front line," Diana told him as the turbolift doors shut in front of her. Anthony gently eased himself into the command chair where he sat for about an hour then when to his ready room where he ordered a drink, "Computer coffee, hot, double sweet, cream," he said to the computer. * * * As soon as he had finished his second cup of coffee, Lieutenant Anderthol's voice came on the intercom, "Captain, can you please come to the bridge?" she asked him. "I'm on my way," he said as he started to walk towards the door, they opened and shut behind him. The crew members that were gathered there all had somber faces because of the news that was just announced. "Captain the Dominion has just launched their attack on the Federation, we already have clearance to disembark from the station," said Commander Leeworth sadly. "Their ships have already crossed the Federation boarder," Lieutenant Anderthol told him. "What! From the information that we received, was that the Dominion- Cardassian fleet was going to attack at fifteen hundred hours, tomorrow afternoon," the captain exclaimed. * * * "All personnel from other ships docked, report to them, the battle with the Dominion has begun, prematurely," came Captain Sisko's voice over the station intercom. While he was announcing it the Starfleet officer on the station went running to their ships and to the transporter rooms to be beamed off. The ships left the station and regrouped one hundred kilometers away from the station in the general direction of the border. There at the border the Dominion fleet was lined up and already firing at the ships trying to protect the Federation. The ships capable of cloaking cloaked just outside of the sensor range of the opposing fleet. Those ships went into impulse and started to fire at the Galor warships, and the Dominion attack ships. The Klingon's started an attack after the Federation ships started to fire. The Klingon's destroyed one third of the Dominion fleet in 30 minutes. After 3 hours of constant fighting the Dominion-Cardassian fleet was almost decimated when they started to enter Federation space. All that was left of the Dominion fleet was 10 or so small Jem'Hadarr attack fighters, a handful of Cardassian Galor class war ships and a few of the new larger ships which destroyed the Valiant. The cloaked ships weren't damaged although the ships that didn't were either destroyed or seriously damaged. The scene when the Dominion finally retreated was similar to the last two Borg attacks at Wolf 359 and the one in the Sol System, but the debris and destroyed ships weren't that of the Federation, but of the Dominion. The graveyard to ships gave everybody on the ship shivers, because it was too damaging to their minds. "Whoa, what a battle!" exclaimed Aloota as he was being relieved from his position after he had almost collapsed when the ship in front of him was destroyed by Federation fire. "This is Captain Anthony Kataka of the Starship Hawking, you all did a wonderful job out there. This is going to be one of the most memorable battles that we've won in a long time. We now have cloaking technology which is an advantage to us and not the Dominion," the exuberant captain of the Hawking told the Federation fleet. "If the Dominion figure out a way to penetrate the cloak you are expected to report it to us immediately before ejecting it out into space and destroying it," piped in Admiral Lexington's voice after Anthony gave his speech. The ships headed back towards Deep Space Nine for debriefing and repairs to whatever ship needed it. Over the encoded sub-space comm. link Admiral Nechayev's image appeared, "Congratulations to all of you for your courageous efforts in the battle. The way we fought against the large fleet of Dominion-Cardassian ships was like the way out ancestors fought in the greatest wars in the history of earth. They would be proud," she said to all the crews on all the ships in the Federation. ************************************************************************ There's Chapter 4 and I hope that I will get Chapter 5 out soon.
