From: Post Commander Ron Jurgesen, American Legion Post 119 Gulfport Mississippi

We got a pretty good start on cleaning the property on Courthouse Road last Saturday, September 26th. The following people volunteered their help: Andy and Patsy DeVries, Bob Dougherty, Bobby Dingman, Junior Guinn, Al Fellows, Sam Kirsch, Ted Moore, Bill Hyatt, Ray Weaver and two of his employee's and myself. I want to thank all of you who showed up to help for the 'Good Of The Legion'! We were rained out so the job did not get completed and because of that we are meeting up again on Saturday, October 3rd at 9:00am. Anyone who can volunteer their time and help would greatly be appreciated! I want to especially thank Andy for bringing his tractor with a bush-hog and Ray for his employees and equipment. Hope to see all of you for this endeavor!

The Elk's lounge reopened Wednesday, September 30th. I encourage everyone to support activities that are in the lounge because when the Elk's are successful so is the Legion!

The Elk's new Exalted Ruler (ER) is Lenny Sawyer. There is no change in the contract between the Legion and Elk's. The Legion will remain located where it is now located. All members will be notified by Newsletter whenever a change of location is to be considered.

The Department Commander and Department Judge Advocate attended our last meeting as they had received complaints that our Post was having operational problems. They were completely satisfied when they left that there were no problems with Post 119's operation!

Since we have no Bingo or lounge to raise funds, we need suggestions and participation for Fund Raisers.

Paula is still working at the Post office but as a volunteer. She will not be in the office like she use to be, so if you have Legion business please call the office first then you can call myself at 332-0350.

If each one of our members donated $10.00 that would give the Post $6,235 or enough in funds to operate for four (4) months. Thank you for supporting your Post!

If anyone wants to use the facilities as of the Hall, Kitchen, Meeting Room or Parking Lot, you must go through me and not the Elk's. I will gather all the information and then present it to the appropriate person of the Elk's.

"For God And Country"
Remember our POW's and MIA's
