I know you people from outside T&T(and somtimes even inside) go through hell trying to understand the fast paced crap that we talk.
  So i have compiled a short list of words and phrases that will help you understand a little of the Trini dialouge...
...don't expect it to come to you right away...most of the time you wouldn't understand what the Trini meant,untill a moment of revelation comes to you when you're in the "John" or when you're taking a shower(...but thats better than before...Right?)

  Even if you're not going to talk to a Trini soon you might still want to read through...you're sure to get a few laughs

The Basic Structure of Trini Language

  Ok....if your wondering what,who or where the hell is a Trini i will enlighten you.
Trini
(short for Trinidadian)a person from the Caribbean island of Trinidad(and/or Tobago)
.....ok now that we've got that sorted out we can go ahead and examine the eloquent language of Trinidadians(also called TRINI).
Here are some rules that Trinis follow(most of the time) in their speech patterns:
  1. Make words as short as possible(eg.that=Dat or What happened=Wham)this is done in the following manner:
    1. Replace the with de
    2. Don't pronounce anything that seems to hard to(eg.th's and r's etc.)
  2. Trini's almost always answer a question with a question(eg,Q:Who are you?Trini A:Why yuh want to know dat?)
  3. Stunning growth takes place during a senance(eg.Boy,i wuz.....if yuh know what happpen man)
  4. No need to remember people's names since "Dread" anything else that comes to mind can replace it.
  5. Trini's speek generally flat...but at the end of a statement the tone of voice is dropped,and at the end of a question the tone of voice is raised sharply.
  6. the c sound is often followed by the y sound(eg.Cat= Cyat)
