Blue Ridge Parkway

Renew your spirit, get closer to the heavens!

After a long and traumatic past few years, Mom and I went up to the Blueridge Parkway for the mountain air and to renew ourselves, and quite refreshing it was! If you ever go through some bad times, I would highly recommend going to some mountain and feel the surroundings, it truly does make your worries seem small. On this occasion, the mountain laurel was in bloom more than ever in 20 years, according to Mom (and she is oh so wise!). Here are a few moments I managed to capture - June 23rd 1999, Mom's 69th birthday. .

Not bad for 69!

The following pictures were taken at Doughton Park, where my parents always visited. Mom calls this her mountain and if she made it to the top to "her tree", she would live another year. The first pic is Dad's tree, which is part way up the mountain - he always loved it because it looked different and windswept.

It does indeed look like a blue ridge!
