The Second Leap

West Virginia ~ Graphics ~ Stuff for Kids
This time I started out with the home page of Darlene Mills from Ravenswood, West Virginia, who was the first to e-mail me and tell me she liked the page. She was not part of the first leap, but I think she wanted to be "Leaped". Since this IS random, and there was no way I could assure her that this would happen, I decided to make her my next starting point. Darlene is 36 years old, and tells us all about her life, her 10-year-old daughter, who has a very nice page, and shaers quite a few cool jokes she has collected off the net. DO NOT MISS her wonderful page on "Barney" parodies. Darlene, such a NASTY sense of humor. I look forward to more! This is truly a page worth repeat visits, since she does constant updates. Recipes, too, for those of us who are extremely "food friendly". And Web help, and some zines.... Her only Web Ring is the Almost Heaven West Virginia Webring, with 153 sites. Looks like this won't be a LONG leap. Oh, well....

Here, I met Kathy Hurley, of Morgantown. Kathy is 24 years old and has lived in West Virginia almost all of her life. She has Muscular Distrophy and her site is mostly devoted to Graphics. I'm glad, though, because she shares a bit about her own life. Her company is called Lucid Dreams, and the backgrounds that you see on this page are from her site. In addition to graphics, Kathy has a page honoring our POWs and MIAs. Kathy has recently completely redone her entire website, which accounts for the low counter numbers on what is obviously the site of an experienced Webmaster. She belongs to a number of web rings, one of which is the Paint Shop Pro Users Ring (over 400 members). Random on that takes me to:

, the Website of Creative Graphics, which is run by Stephanie Cromwell. This is a different kind of graphics page than Kathy's, because here Steffie has several discussion forums (very active ones) and a couple of how-to tutorials. ONE OF THE MOST WONDERFUL THINGS ABOUT THE NET IS HOW HELPFUL WE ALL ARE TO ONE ANOTHER. She has one page, where she pays tribute to her Daddy, Lindsey Bell, who is very ill and Steffie requests prayers for him. Steffie's is one of 575 sites on the Graphics Ring, in addition to the one I leaped in on, so off I went to check out the graphics at:

, which is run by Cynthia Johnston, a former nurse. There is a great deal of much-needed explanation here about what one can and cannot do regarding the issue of use of graphics on the Net, beyond simple Nettiquette. Cynthia makes it clear that we put one of 2 of her special logos on our page where her graphics appear. (Did that). The silver bars are also from this site. Actually, Grab & Go is only the "free" graphics area of a larger company Cynthia runs called Luminessence, which does professional web design. Further inspection suggests that Cynthia is from Canada and is one of a number of "Digital Divas"; click on her "Site Map" and there is the opportunity to learn all about her. Her OTHER Webring (on the Grab-n-Go Page) is the Seasonal Graphics Webring (64 Members), which took me to:

Lolly Dolly's Graphic's Index. Lolly Dolly is actually Lolly Moga, married to Joe Lowman; Lolly Dolly is their granddaughter. We learn a lot about the family, including that Lolly is an identical twin! Lolly specializes in graphics with a Christian Theme, and has other holiday areas besides (I had never seen one built around Father's Day), with her own examples for each holiday. She has more coming, too. Her graphics area is but one part of an extensive Web site. She is from New Orleans, and has pages about her family and recipes as well as many Christian Links, including some VERY IMPRESSIVE Jesus Lake Applets. I think the day I surfed on, she was working on the page, since a Thanksgiving Background suddenly appeared that had not been there when I first came in. There are many Webrings here related to many different subjects, but I chose to surf out on the Happy Ring (280 members) for a change of pace to the wonderful Graphics pages I had the pleasure of visiting.

Sew Fun Sew Easy run by Kathy Anderson, a sewing teacher and mother of 6-year old twins in Manhattan Beach, (Los Angeles), California. Kathy runs sewing classes for children and includes links to many areas, including some of their community projects. In addition to the Happy Ring, the site is also on the Geocities Youth Pages Ring and one called "Just for Kids". A Random Click on the former took me to:

Lauren's Virtual Home. Lauren is 6 years old and lives in Sydney, Australia. The site was put together by her mother's friend, and it is really beautiful. There is always MIDI music playing the kind of songs I can't help but smile when I hear them ("Puff the Magic Dragon", "When You Wish Upon a Star"). This site includes a virtual garden, virtual pets and other really cool kid and Australia-related stuff. There is even an award one can win! She belongs to about nine Web Rings, the first of which is the GeoLeaders Web Ring, which took me to:

coyoteofusa's Home Page. Coyote moved here on November 15 and has not put anything up yet. All we know is his/her e-mail address and that the page will be themed as "Coyote Artwork". As the very nature of Random Leaping is of the moment, this will conclude this Leap as there is no place else to go at this time. If you are reading my page, I recommend you check out this final site since there will be something there by that time.

You can now go back home or to The First Leap.

PLEASE PRAY FOR Kathy, Steffie's Daddy and Lolly's Parents and Sister
