Goths Revisited ~ Words of Wisdom ~ Willy Wonka

We seem to be back in Goth Territory. It had to happen sooner or later. I, Random Leaper, have been taken prisoner as does everyone else who comes into this site. Fortunately, we have our choices of places to go. I went to the bunks, where I met General Manda, our pretty young webmistress and her friends. I think they're in Nebraska (good starting place, I guess; it's central) or possibly Stillwater, Minnesota. The site is filled with photos and they take forever to load. Actually, the SPUDs are out to destroy the Evil Eggplants that are among us. I think it's cool. Ducking out to one of the 78 Baby Goth Web Sites, I happened upon:

"Natalie Batalie Catalie" lives on Long Island and has musical ambitions. She studies oboe and classical voice. Her favorite thing is to hang with her friend Joey, who she met on line and with whom she has a band. She links to some of her favorite bands and goth sites. An unusual link is to the Jenny Jones Show, which she has appeared on. Would love to know why. The day I logged in (April 3, 1999), her webrings were being worked on, so I left through the guest book.

"Tragedy" is a bass player and lives in Ohio. Enjoys the darker sides of things and Vampires. Tragedy is a character he plays and his story is added to often, but his most recent update was on December 30, 1998.

NOTE: Trag has updated between the previous date and the date that this page is being published.

It makes for rather good reading. His guestbook was most recently (earlier today) signed by:

Poetry of the Nightsyde. This is the site of Laron the Dark, a beautiful and eternally mysterious poet. On the Posse Friends Alliance Ring, she describes her site as "Anything and everything you could ever want to know about me that is important. My friends, my poetry. . .basically my life. Dark and a bit twisted. .but then isn't everything?" Moving on to another of the Posse Friends Alliance (there are only 16), I find:

Clay's Page. Clay Rogers is a student (sophomore?) at the University of Southern Maine, soon to declare a major in International Studies. He was at one point an exchange student, travelling to Italy. He links to his favorite TV show, Babylon 5, and his favorite movies, CHASING AMY and PUMP UP THE VOLUME. Since there is no guestbook and I don't want to just go back to the Posse Friends Alliance, I decided to hook onto Clay's uncle's page:

Kennebassett River Ramblings. Peter Rogers of Solon, Maine, who has a nice little list of links, including the Kennebassett Country Store and some nice pictures of his house and family. Great collection of quotations worth perusal. Linked on to "Jan's Sayings":

Jan Swingle's Homepage. Jan is a graduate student at Nova Southeastern University in South Florida. She tells a bit about her work and studies, links to the website of Westfield, New Jersey, where she grew up, and is into cool quotes, which is how she had been linked to Peter (above). A few of her links don't work (I really wanted to read those Irish ones -- pout, pout). After two sayings from "Willy Wonka", she points us to

Kelly's Scrumdiddlyumptious Scrabble Site. Kelly Holmes, 21, is a "perpetual Junior" at the University of Texas at Austin, and originally comes from Plano, Texas. Her site is very cleverly mapped out on a Scrabble Board, which is quite different from anything I've seen. She shares favorite books and movies, with appropriate links to Amazon and a special area to her very favorite, "Willy Wonka". Getting a random link from the 6-member "A Little Nonsense Now and Then" webring takes us to:

Willy Wonka Page. Actually a small part of a larger site by Bill Murphy, a High School Student in Beaver, Pennsylvania. He first created his Willy Wonka page because when he first surfed the net in 1995, he couldn't find any. He has similar sites to The Goonies with Midis from the movies, a Midi Search Engine and lots of pictures. He has some original artwork and a downloadable game as well. Much as I don't want to, I'm heading out of here on the same WebRing:

. This site was put up by Kristine Howard, a college senior at the University of Notre Dame. A really great site about all the works of the author of the original "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (from which "Willy Wonka" was adapted): The Man, His Work, and including Classroom activities around Dahl's books for Teachers. She even lists a large number of sites which link to hers (Hey, Kristine, here's another one!). I left through the Literature for Children Ring (36 members):
