     Thomas Peteet Tredway, born: 25 July 1796, Harford Co., Maryland, married twice. He married first to Ruth DeMoss on 14 Jan 1821, Harford Co., Maryland. Ruth was born in Harford Co., Maryland to John DeMoss, and died: 09 Aug 1832 in Harford Co., Maryland. Their children were:

2. John Tredway, b: 09 Mar 1824, Harford Co., Maryland
3. Lewis D. Tredway, b: 14 Feb 1826, Harford Co., Maryland

     Thomas married second to Jemima Duncan on 24 Dec 1837 in Harford Co., Maryland. Jemima was born: 09 July 1814 in Baltimore Co., Maryland, the daughter of Joseph Duncan. Thomas was in the 42nd Regiment of the Maryland State Militia in the War of 1812. Thomas died: 25 July 1888. Thomas and Jemima's children were:

     Daniel N. Tredway, born 29 Aug 1798, Harford Co., Maryland married Elizabeth Bosley on 01 Mar 1827 in Harford Co., Maryland. Elizabeth was born 12 Nov 1803, the daughter of James Bosley. Their family was listed in the 1860 Parkton PO, Baltimore Co., Maryland Census, and the 1870 Wiseburg PO., Baltimore Co., Maryland Census records. Elizabeth was listed in the 1880 District 7, Baltimore Co., Maryland Census records living with her daughter and son in law; Clarinda L. and Samuel W. Meredith. Their children were:

Joseph was born 22 Dec 1811 in Harford Co., Maryland, the son of William Cathcart and Jemima Hughes (Hews). Ruth died 15 Jan 1878, and Joseph died 12 Sept 1845, both are buried in the Bethel Church Cemetery, Harford Co., Maryland. Their children were:

     John Norris Tredway born on 13 Nov 1810 in Harford Co., Maryland, married Mary Bosley on 23 Dec 1834 in Harford Co., Maryland. Mary was born on 24 Oct 1810 in Maryland. John and his family were listed in the 1860 Marshall, Harford Co., Maryland Census, and the 1870 Upper Falls PO, Harford Co., Maryland Census records. John died 27 July 1889, and Mary died 03 Feb 1877. They both are buried in the McKendree Methodist Episcopal Church Cemetery, Harford Co., Maryland. Their children were:

Family of John Treadway (of Robert, William, Thomas)

     John Treadway born ca 1783 in Carter Co., Tennessee, married Onijah Holt ca 1814. Onijah was born on 24 November 1787 in North Carolina, the daughter of Jacob Holt and Elizabeth Petticord. John and his brother-in-law Harmon Davenport were partners in an iron foundry in Washington Co TN. On 18 Apr 1832 they were sued by Joseph Rowe and had to pay Rowe $69.32. A second suit was brought and John Treadway recovered 2,459 1/2 pounds of iron which was owing to the Davenport business. John died after 1850, and Onijah died on 15 June 1891, and is buried in the John Bate Treadway Cemetery, Elizabethton, Carter Co., Tennessee.      Jane Treadway ca 1797 in Tennessee.  She married William Lady.  William was born ca 1796 in Virginia, possibly the son of Jacob Lady.  Their family was listed in the 1850 Division 1, Sullivan Co., Tennessee Census records, pg. 209, household 134, and the 1860 Blountville PO, Sullivan Co., Tennessee Census records, pg. 59, household 560.  Jane was living with her son George in the 1870 7th District, Sullivan Co., Tennessee Census records, pg. 436, household 40.  William died ca 1869, and Jane died ca 1879, both in Sullivan Co., Tennessee. Their children that I have were:

Family of Nancy Treadway (of Robert, William, Thomas)

     Nancy Treadway born ca 1800 in Tennessee, married Daniel O'Donnell. Daniel was born ca 1794 in Ireland, the son of Robert O'Donnell. Daniel was the Administrator to Nancy Treadway's Estate. He petitioned the Carter Co., Tennessee Court on 01 June 1846 for wages due his mother-in-law Nancy, (deceased) from her husband Robert's Revolutionary Pension. Nancy and Daniel's children were:

Family of Sarah "Sally" Treadway (of Robert, William, Thomas)

     Sarah "Sally Treadway born ca1802 in Monroe Co., Tennessee, married Daniel Hardbarger. Daniel was born ca 1798 in Virginia. Their family was listed in the 1830 Carter Co., Tennessee Census. In that census there were 5 sons and 3 daughters. Their family was also listed in the 1850 and 1860 Roane Co., Tennessee Census. Sally and Daniel had 10 children in total. I have six children. They were:

     William Treadway born ca 1803 in Tennessee.  He married Johanna Head on 15 January 1824 in Carter Co., Tennessee (Early Tennessee Marriages).  Johanna was born ca 1805 in North Carolina.  Their family was listed in the 1830-1850 Washington Co., Tennessee Census records.  John died between 1850 and 1860.  Johanna was listed in the 1860-1880 Washington Co., Tennessee Census records.  Thank you for the information on this family Claudia Angel.  Their children were:

Family of Martha "Patsey" Treadway (of Robert, William, Thomas)

     Martha "Patsey" Treadway born ca 1806 in Tennessee.  She married Harmon Davenport.  Harmon was born ca 1798 in New York.  Their family was listed in the 1850 Carther Co., Tennessee Census records, household 16, and the 1860 2nd Division, Elizabethton, Carter Co., Tennessee Census records, pg. 469, household 1222. Harmon was a partner of an iron foundry in Washington Co., Tennessee with his brother-in-law John Treadway. On 18 Apr 1832 they were sued by Joseph Rowe and had to pay Rowe $69.32.      Christopher Treadway, born: 1797, married Polly _____. Polly was born in Virginia in 1798. Christopher received land grants from the state of North Carolina amounting to 240 acres of land. Christopher was listed in the 1815 Ashe Co., North Carolina Tax List. I have no other information on them other than one daughter. She was:

Family of Susannah Treadway (of William, William, Thomas)

     Susannah Treadway born 1803 in North Carolina is a new addition to the family for me.  Note: It is not a proven fact that she is the daughter of William, but time frames, locations of Buncombe Co., North Carolina and Knox Co., Kentucky (identical to her brother Robert Peter below), and another interesting item; Susannah had a Nancy Ray aged 9 living with her in the 1870 Census records (Her brother Robert Peter married Elizabeth Ray).   All this seems to indicate at the least a possibility.  Much of this info was given to me many years ago by Alice.  Susannah had a child by James Ramsey.  He was:

     We the subscribers do obligate our selves to pay Robert Williamson Chairman and presiding Justice of the said Court or his successors in the office the sum of two hundred and fifty pounds to be void on condition that John Ramsey do indemnify the Court aforesaid for maintenance of a base born child by him the said John begotten of the body of Susannah Tredeway otherwise to remain in full force and value Given under our hands and seals this 22nd day of June 1825.

     Susannah married William Hinkle.  William was born ca 1803 in Virginia.  They later divorced.  William died on 01 March 1880.  Their children were:

3. James Hinkle, b: 1831, NC
4. Permelia Hinkle, b: 1834, NC
5. Peter Hinkle, b: 1835, NC

     Susannah later married Jonathan S. Howard on 29 March 1842 in Knox Co., Kentucky. Jonathan was born ca 1805 in North Carolina. They were listed in the 1850 Knox Co., Kentucky Census, and 1860 and 1870 Flatlick Twp., Knox Co., Kentucky Census records.  Susannah died in 1870.

Family of R(obert) Peter Treadway (of William, William, Thomas)

     Robert Peter Treadway born 1806 in North Carolina, married Elizabeth Ray. Elizabeth was born ca 1806 in North Carolina, the daughter of James Ray and Hannah Gillespie (Thanks James Clark for the info on Elizabeth). Robert appears to have migrated to several states. I found him and his family in the 1850 Clay Co., Kentucky Census. This census states that Minerva and James were born in South Carolina. They were also listed in the 1870 and 1880 Manchester, Clay Co., Kentucky Census. Thanks for your input on this family Claudia Angel and James Clark. Robert and Elizabeth's children were:

Deed Book 1 pg 336 10 September 1832, Yancey Co., North Carolina:

I Robert P. Treadway, am bound unto John Roberts $1,200 to be void on condition I make deed to 700 acres, all mines and mettles reserved unto John G. Blount, on Big Laurel and waters thereof to include the plantation R. P. Treadway now lives on and the improvements where Wm. Henlee once lived on Laurel above Tredaway. Wit: Wm. H. Runion and James Keith.

Deed Book 1, pg 200, 04 December 1837, Yancey Co., North Carolina:

     Thomas Wilson, Esquire, High Sheriff of Yancey Co. to Joseph Rice of Yancey Co. Execution from August Court the Estate of Robert P. Treadway in favor of Jeremiah Redman. In favor of Yancey and Clark Co., as on record, died sieze no goods or chattles to be found, and in Yancey Co. as follows, beg. on John Roberts line on waters of Big Laurel bounded by Joseph Rice and others known by the name of Sycamore Bottom, the Treadway Tract, apart of the John G. Blount survey, on which R. P. Treadway lived and on what John Roberts now lives, 180 acres, public sale 04 October 1837 in Burnsville. Joseph Rice became highest bidder. Wit: Andrew C. Callison and James S. Ruble.

Family of Aaron Treadway (of William, William, Thomas)

     Aaron Treadway born 27 July 1810 in Sullivan Co., Tennessee married Nancy Priscilla Davis on 04 Mar 1832 in Buncombe Co., North Carolina. Nancy went by her middle name Priscilla. Priscilla was born on 10 Apr 1812 in Buncombe Co., North Carolina, the daughter of David and Rachel Davis. It is said that Priscilla was part Cherokee Indian. I was told a story by Randall Davis that Aaron and Priscilla met for the first time in Marshall, Buncombe/Madison Co., North Carolina. In "A Family History of William Garfield Treadway 1895-1962", written by Judith Mae Braem Treadway in December of 1993, page 12, states the following: "Aaron and Priscilla traveled into Kentucky. There, when Aaron "was only 24, he met up with Davy Crockett, then 40, wrestled him -- and won the match. As a trophy he received an iron fireplace oven". The story continues that "while Aaron and his wife still were in Kentucky, Sen. Abe Lincoln -- not too important at that time--passed through and stopped with them, and Priscilla cooked two turkey thighs for him in that same pot." Aaron was a farmer and said to have been the first school teacher of Walnut, Buncombe/Madison Co., North Carolina, and the first person to have sold the first Railroad ticket at Marshall. The reason that I had Aaron's middle name as David is that he was listed as David Treadway in the 1880, Madison Co., North Carolina Census on the Latter Day Saints site, but after viewing the photocopy of the original census, courtesy of Claudia Angel, it states "Aarin". Aaron lived to be 97 and Priscilla 95. Aaron died on 14 Feb 1907, and Priscilla died on 11 March 1907. They both are buried in unmarked graves a few miles off of Doe Branch Road in a family cemetery near Walnut in Madison Co., North Carolina. Their children were:

      John Treadway born 1813 in Tennessee, married Nancy "Betty" Teague. Betty was born in 1815 in Buncombe Co., Tennessee, the daughter of Henry Edward Teague and Anna Elizabeth Paine. John and Nancy were listed in the 1880 Leicester, Buncombe Co. Census as living with their daughter and son-in-law; Sarah A. and Leander Martin. I have no other information on John or Betty except for their children. They were:

     Rebecca Treadway born 30 Oct 1818, married Rev. John Parham. John was born 01 Dec 1818 in North Carolina, the son of Littleton Parham and Elizbeth Betsey Martin. Rebecca died in 1902 and John died 20 May 1887. They both are buried in the Mountain View Cemetery, Buncombe Co., North Carolina. Their children were:

     Benjamin Treadway born 15 March 1802 in Tennessee, married Mary Polly Byrd. Mary was born ca 25 June 1800 in Tennessee. Benjamin and Mary left Tennessee and migrated to Mississippi before 1830, they were then in Alabama by 1829, and by 1849 they were in Itawamba Co., Mississippi. Benjamin and Polly were listed in the 1860 Eastern Division, Monroe Co., Mississippi Census, and the 1880 Smithville, Monroe Co., Mississippi Census. Childrens birthdates from Jared Treadway. Their children were:

Family of Mary "Polly" Treadway (of Isham, William, Thomas)

    Mary "Polly" Treadway born 20 March 1805 in Tennessee, married Perry P. Benson ca 1824. Perry was born 30 Mar 1800 in NC. Polly died ca 1834/38 in Davidson Co., TN. Perry remarried after her death to Nancy Searcy Hill on 21 Dec 1839 in Wilson Co., TN. Perry died on 19 Dec 1865 and is buried in the Benson-Byram Cemetery, Wilson Co., TN. Polly and Perry's children were:

1. Elizabeth Ann Benson, b: 1825, TN, married James A. Liggan on 25 Mar 1846 in Wilson Co., TN.
2. William Henderson Benson, b: 1827, Sumner Co., TN, d: 07 May 1887 in Wilson Co., TN, married twice. He married first to Angeline Byram on 01 Oct 1846 in Sumner Co., TN. Do not have the name of his second wife.
3. James M. Benson, b: 1832, Davidson Co., TN
4. George W. Benson, b: 1837, Davidson Co., TN, never married. George was blinded in 1854 from blasting a well.

Family of Aaron Treadway (of Isham, William, Thomas)

     Aaron Treadway born 29 March 1812 in Tennessee, married Elizabeth "Betsey" Downs.  Betsey was born ca 1820 in Tennessee.  Aaron and Betsey's family were listed in the 1850 Marion Co., Alabama Census Records, and the 1860 Sycamore Twp., Izard Co., Arkansas Census. Aaron must have passed after 1860, as Betsey was listed as head of household with her children in the 1870 Red River Twp., Van Buren Co., Arkansas Census. Their children were:

2.  Sarah Margaret Treadway, b: 1839, Marion Co., AL
3.  Isham Treadway, b: 1844, Marion Co., AL
4.  Tabitha Catherine Treadway, b: 1849, Marion Co., AL

6.  A. J. Treadway (M), b: 1854, AR
7.  Aaron Treadway, b: 1860, AR

     Note:  In the 1870 Red River Twp., Betsey had 3 other children living with her.  They were Martha 14, Salina 11, and Charles D. 5.  I am unsure of who they belong to, but Martha and Salina should have shown up in the 1860 Census with Aaron and Betsey if they were their children.  Perhaps they are the children of William Henry, or one of their nephews children.
