     In the name of God Amen. I Joseph Brown of Dixon County in the State of Tennessee being at present of sound mind and memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following:

In primus: I will that all my just Debts and personal charges be paid by my executors. Secondly I will I devise all my real and personal estate to my beloved wife Ann Brown, for her use and Comfort during her natural life, and after her death it is my will and desire that all my property of which she may all possess both real and personal be divided equally between all my children then living except such as is hereafter particularly specified. To my daughter Polly Worly and her heirs I will and bequeath a negro child named Matilda, first child of my negro woman Peggy. To my daughter Sarah Mitchell and her heirs I will and bequeath my negro woman Peggy and should Peggy have another child living I will that I will that to my daughter Elizabeth Handlin and should she have a third child living, I will that my daughter Phillipena Dickerson, and should she have a fourth child living, I will that to my daughter Ann Potter, all the rest that she may have, I will to my daughter Sarah Mitchell for her and her heirs. To my daughter Ruth Mendehall, I will a horse to be valued at eighty dollars or other personal property to that amount which which may be held at the discretion of my wife before or after death, after the death of my wife Ann Brown it is my will and desire that my executor use his best endeavors to precure the emancipation of my Negro man David whom I think entitled to it for meritorious Serviced and I do hereby appoint my Wife Ann Brown Executrix and my true and trusty friend of Leatherwood my Executor. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this nineteenth day of June Anno Domini 1812.

     Know ye that I Joseph Brown have made and declared the above to be my last will and testament and in this codicil do give and bequeath to my grandson Joseph Worley my Rifle gun and all that belongs to her and that this is part and parcel of the will above, I hereunto set my hand and seal the nineteenth day of June Anno Domini 1812.

Assigns in presence of Alex Martin, John Shelton, and Mathew Morgain Which will and testament as before recited was duly proven in open Court July Session by the oaths of Alex Martin and Mathew Morgain two of the subscribing witnesses there too and the same was ordered to be recorded, where upon Ann Brown Executrix there in named Qualified and received Letters Testamentory.
