     Know ye that we for and in consideration of the sum of fifty shilling for every hundred acres hereby granted paid into our treasury by Nathan Worley have given and granted and by the presents do give and grant unto the Said Nathan Worley a tract of land containing two hundred acres lying and being in the county of Buncombe on the north side of the north fork of Sandy Mush Beginning at a nooked white oak on the point of a ridge runs west two hundred poles crossing John Millers corner and with his line crossing a white oak and Spanish Oak marked to a stake thence north one hundred and sixty poles to a stake then East two hundred poles to a stake then to the beginning Entered 13 August 1811 – as by the plat hereunto amend together with all woods waters mines minerals hereditaments and appurtenances to the said land belonging or appertaining to hold to the Said Nathan Worley his heirs and assigns forever yielding and paying to us Such Sums of money yearly or otherwise our general assembly from time to time may direct provided always that the Said grantee shall cause this grant to be registered in the Registers office within twelve months from the date hereof otherwise the same shall be void in testimony whereof we caused these our letters to be made patent and our great seal to be thereunto affixed Witness William Hawkins Esquire our governor captain general and commander in chief at Raleigh the 29th day of November in the thirty ninth year of our independence and in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and fifteen by command.

Land Deed, Grantor Joseph Miller and Peter Miller to Grantee Nathan Worley

Written on 13 Aug 1811, Proved 13 Aug 1819

     Know all men by these presents that we Joseph Miller and Peter Miller of the county of Buncombe and State of North Carolina for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred dollars to us in hand paid by Nathan Worley of Said State and County have sold and conveyed unto the Said Nathan Worley his heirs and assigns a certain piece of land in the county of Buncombe and on the north fork of Sandy Mush Creek and Bounded as follows Beginning on a white oak near the creek and turns west supposed to be two hundred and fifty four poles to David Millers corner a white oak thence a Southerly course supposed to be fifty poles to a large broken topped white oak at the East end of the old school house being a conditional line made between Peter Miller and David Miller thence South to a stake in the Southern boundary of the old Survey then East and running with the lines of the original Survey to the Beginning 200 acres bet it more or less it being the tract of land John Miller formerly lived on which said piece or parcel of land with all its members and appurtenances we do warrant and Defend from the claim of all manner of persons unto the Said Nathan Worley his heirs and assigns . In witness whereof we have hereunto set our and seal this 13 day of August 1819

     This Indenture made the twentieth of May Eighteen Hundred and twenty? Between Nathan Worley of the County of Buncombe and State of North Carolina of the one part and James M. Smith of the County and State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Nathan Worley for and in consideration of the Sum of one hundred and fifty seven dollars to him in hand paid by the said James M. Smith the receipt whereof he doth hereby confess and acknowledge he the said Nathan Worley hath given granted Bargained and Sold and By these presents doth grant bargain sell unto the said James M. Smith all the message or tenements and all these three tracts of land situate lying and being in the county of Buncombe aforesaid Bounded as follows the first tract beginning at a crooked white oak on the point of a ridge running west two hundred poles crossing John Millers corner and with his line crossing a white oak and Spanish oak marked as a corner to a stake then north one hundred sixty poles to a stake then East two hundred poles to a stake then to the Beginning containing two hundred acres the Second tract adjoining the above on the north Beginning at a small Spanish oak and dogwood on the side of a hill in the line of said tract one hundred and sixteen poles East from the Northwest corner and runs north one hundred poles crossing a bank running up the same to a beach on a steep bluff of said bank thence East Eighty four poles to a Stake then South one hundred poles to a stake at the Northeast corner of the first mentioned tract this with that line to the Beginning containing by computation fifty acres the Third tract Begins on a white oak near the creek and turns West supposed to be two hundred and fifty four poles to David Millers old corner a white oak thence a South Easterly course supposed to be fifty poles to a large broken topped white oak at the East End of an old School house Being a conditional line made between Peter Miller and David Miller then South supposed to be thirty poles to a stake in the South Boundary line of the old Survey to the Beginning part of the first formerly owned by John Miller and all the older tracts lying on the north part of Sandy Mush Creek – also the revision and revisions unto ____ of the said premises and of every part and parcel thereof with the appurtenances to have and to hold to said message or tenement and premises above mentioned and every part and parcel hereof with the appurtenances unto the said James M. Smith his heirs Executors administrators and assigns forever and during the Term of one Hundred years must and immediately answering and following and fully to be complete and ended yielding and paying therefore yearly
