*****************3rd Generation*****************

Robert Wynne born ca 1622 and was Christened on 22 Dec 1622, St. Dunstan, Canterbury, Co. Kent, England, left England and sailed to Virginia. He was Speaker of the House of Burgess during Virginia's Long Parliament 1661-1675. He was in charge of surveying public roads. He was Captain, and then Colonel in the Militia of Charles City Co., Virginia. He owned many properties in England, and in the States. He willed two homes and a farm in England of which was left to his son Thomas. He had a 600 acre plantation south of the James River named Georges, which he left to his son Joshua, along with a home and oatmeal mill in England. Robert married Mary Sloman ca 1658. Mary was born ca 1624 in London, Middlesex Co., England, the daughter of John Sloman and Katherine Epes. Mary was the widow of Francis Poythress. Mary and Francis's children were: Francis and John Poythress. There is some dispute as to who Mary really was. Thanks to the brillian detective works by Deloris Wynne-Riley, I believe all this to be right on the mark. Thank you Deloris. Robert died: 15 Aug 1678 in Jordan's Parish, Charles City Co., Virginia. Robert and Mary's children were:

1. Thomas Wynne, born: ca 1657, Charles City Co., Virginia, and died: 1718 in Surry Co., Virginia. Thomas married Agnes Stith, the daughter of Major John Stith and Jane Moseby. They both are buried at Jones Hole Swamp. Children: Thomas Jr., Lucretia "Lucy", Mary, Robert, and Sloman Wynne.

2. Joshua Wynne, Maj., (See 4th Generation), born: ca 1659-1662, Charles City Co., Virginia.

3. Robert Wynne, born: ca 1660, Charles City Co., Virginia. He is buried in the Jordan's Parish Church Cemetery, Jordan's Parish, Charles City Co., Virginia.

4. Mary Wynne, born: 1665, Charles City Co., Virginia, married John Woodlief IV. Children: George Woodlief.

*****************4th Generation*****************

Joshua Wynne born 1659-1662 in Charles City Co., Virginia. He married Mary Jones. Mary was born: 1668 in Charles City Co., Virginia, the daughter of Peter Jones and Margaret Wood, adopted daughter of Gen. Abraham Wood. I have seen where many people think she was the daughter of James Crews and Margaret Llewellyn. This simply is not so. That Margaret was listed as Margaret Crews on 01 May 1662 when she witnessed the signing of a Will for John Rowan. At that time our Margaret was married to Peter Jones (mar. date 01 Jun 1655, Henrico Co., Virginia). James Crews was hanged for his part in Bacon's Rebellion. In his Will dated 23 July 1676, James states he left no widow, or lawful child at that time. This shows that his Margaret must have died before his Will and at that time period our Margaret was still alive and married to Peter Jones. So this clearly shows our Margaret is not that Margaret. Joshua Wynne and Robert Malone (husband of his niece Mary Wynne Malone) were paid bounty of 200 pounds to kill wolves. Joshua was also an Indian interpreter. He inherited his father Robert's plantation. He was a Justice in Charles City Co., Virginia, and also sheriff of Prince George Co., Virginia. Joshua was killed in Dinwiddie Co., Virginia in Nov of 1715 by Indians in revenge, after his servant killed one of their "Great Men". Joshua died in Nov of 1715 in Dinwiddie Co., Virginia. Mary married second to William Randolph. Mary and her family were mentioned in the Will of her mother Margaret Wood Jones Cocke. Mary died in 1718 in Henrico Co., Virginia. Their children were:
