From May 30 until June 13 1998 we went to the Northern part of Greece for a Fly and Drive vacation. The first week we did the tour as shown on the map. The second week we stayed in an appartment on Lefkas.

Map

Last year we did the Fly and Drive trip on the Peloponnesos. This year we wanted to see some more of Greece and decided to go to the Northern part of Greece and see at least the Meteora Monastry's and Delphi.
We could not find a standard fly and drive arrangement (they all went also to the Peloponnesos or to Athens) so we decided to just rent a car, book the first night and the last weeks appartment. Considering it was very early in the season we expected not to have too much trouble finding us places to sleep. And we were right, it all went pretty smoothly.

This trip was also booked via Ross Holidays. It is the fourth time we went to Greece via this agency and we are very enthousiastic on their service and their choice of accomodations.
They have appartments in places which usualy are less touristic as the ones offered via other agency's.

Well, you can see our photo's and read all about it on the next pages.

We took of from Schiphol on May 30th at 5.30. That was very early, but the advantage was that around 10.00 we drove away in our rental car to our first hotel in Parga, Ilinos Beach. This is a nice hotel with its own beach. That evening we went to Parga to have diner and found ourselves a nice restaurant were you sit on a balcony. We had a great meal, with lots of garlic.

The next day, sunday, the trip realy started:
Going via Dodoni to Ionnina
Look around the Zagoria villages and visit the Vikos Gorge
Drive via Metsovo to the Meteora Monestary in Kalambaka
Visit the Great Meteora Monestary and drive to Pilion
A full day of enjoying the quiet beaches of Horefto
Drive to Aragova and visit the ... Monestary
Visit Delphi and drive back to our apprtment on Lefkas
One full week on Lefkas
