It all started with the purchase of the Packard bell Platinum I in late April. It had 16meg ram 1.2 gig hard drive 133mhzpentium processor and a 28.8 BPS modem.
Among the problem I have encountered with this computer are the sound card refuses to play sound windows cannot detect the sound card they don’t give you any disk to configure you computer to properly install the sound card. When the computer is first turned on the speakers emit a annoying popping sound and in order to get the card running right you have to sit in front of your computer for an hour and reinstall the original software on the master CD which takes forever and totally screws everything in your computer up.
After a while I decided to run a Benchmark and it turned out using the Norton utilities benchmark that it ranked in performance below a Pentium 90. At this point I was absolutely surprised.
After I found out that they have the sound card and modem on one card and the video card on the motherboard I didn’t know what the hell to do with this worthless piece of garbage. These are only a few of the ways the company tries to take shortcuts to save money and thus it results in a inferior machine. Oh by the way When I opened the box there was only one useful piece of literature it was a worthless quick start guide and had no information about the parts of the computer then later I find out that they put all the information on a CD. Talk about cheap uh!
One thing about Packard Bell they try to flashy on screen displays and nice cool features like a remote control like anyone is going to use that to get the consumer interested in buying their computers but the bottom line is that their computers don’t live up and are not really worth buying.
If you are wondering why the hell I am going through the trouble of doing all this well it is because I was fooled by them and I don’t want other buyers to buy Packard Bells and be stuck with them and regret it. Also when I opened the box there was a sheet that said that some parts are used therefore not making it a brand new computer and many other parts have been made in foreign countries and sold in the us.
