DEDICATED TO THE WORCESTER FIREFIGHTERS

ONE LAST CALL

A Prayer For Firefighters.

One Last Call

When the bell rang.
We answered with pride.
Grabbing our gear, one last time.

We raced to the call.
Opening our arms to those in need.
Through the heat and thick smoke.
We search in despair.
For anyone, who might be in there.

The heat is more intense.
The smoke gets thicker.
We won't give up.
Reaching out in vain.
To find you.

The building is empty and so is our tanks.
In the dark we lost our way.
Calling out to our brothers, on this cold December night.
It was then we passed through a door and into the light.

If we had but, one last thing to say, it would be this.
We would do it again.
Because being a firefighter means.
Being a friend.
