June to September 1999
- THE ASSIGNMENT - UK video release - Yes, that's right! We can finally get to
own it on vid. THE ASSIGNMENT had its UK video release on Monday, 6th September! Thanks to
Liz for the info. (what would I do without the contributions from you all!!)
- Another interview... - Yes, here we go, yet another interview about This Is My
Father! This time from Entertainment Today, entitled Fathers and Sons.
- New Release Date for 50 Violins, now renamed The Music Of My Heart... - Looks
like the release date for the US has been pushed back to October now (15th October), but
according to the IMDb it was released in Canada on 2nd July - can anyone verify this? It
will open in Europe at the Venice Film Festival on 6 September. No other dates as yet.
- Interviews, Interviews!! - The Quinn brothers continue attracting attention
following the release of This Is My Father! I still don't know when it will be released in
the UK, last news I had was that Sky have bought the rights and there won't be a cinematic
release in this country.

- ROSIE O'DONNELL SHOW TRANSCRIPT - For those people who were unable to watch

Father" website is now up and running. This site's been put together beautifully,
with lovely stills & clips, background info etc. - you can't afford to miss it!
- FESTIVAL UPDATE - The Aidan Quinn Filmfestival David organised in Englewood,
NJ, has now come to an end. Read what David has to say here.

- MAGAZINE ALERT! - There is a full page add in the May issue of Movieline

April/May 1999
- "IN DREAMS" OPENS IN UK ! - In Dreams opened in the UK on 30
April. The reviews have not been particularly full of praise, but for those who love
thrillers, it should certainly be interesting, not least because of Aidan's appearance at
Annette Bening's character's husband! (Thanks to Liz & Kirsty for looking out for the
UK release date!)
Other European release dates: Sweden 2 April, Germany 22 July, Denmark 23 April, Iceland 7
May, Belgium some time in April and Slovakia 13 May (not confirmed).

FIFTY VIOLINS The US release
date for 50 Violins still looks to be set for 16th July 1999. Still no other release dates
announcements though. You can read more about Aidan's latest film here.
February/March
1999
- "NEW" (OLD) ARTICLE - I've
added an interesting interview from the UK's Premiere Magazine 1995 where Aidan talks
about Legends of the Fall amongst other things. To be found in the Article Gallery. Thanks
to Liz for not only finding it but also typing it all up for me!
- LIVE CHAT WITH AIDAN! - Several
fortunate ones among us (including some people from the UK who managed to stay awake as it
was in the middle of the night!) were able to take part in a one-hour live chat with Aidan
and his brother Paul on Friday 22 January, which was hosted by David Poland at the
Sundance Film Festival in connection with the showing of This Is My Father.

Amongst other things, they talked about their favourite films, what people they'd really
like to work with, Aidan's favourite film roles and the influence and inspiration of their
parents for This Is My Father. Aidan also told us that there were only two more
weeks of shooting for 50 Violins left - at least what his role is concerned, so by now he
should be done with that and enjoying some rest. We were also informed that the expected US
release date for This Is My Father is 23 April - as for the UK, there won't
be a theatrical release as Sky have bought the rights, which hopefully means it will be
shown on Sky some time around August.
- "IN DREAMS" (aka Blue Vision)
OPENS IN THE U.S.! This film opened in the US on Friday, 15 January. In Dreams is a
psychological thriller, in which Aidan plays the role of Paul Cooper, a pilot who is
Annette Bening's character's husband. Annette plays Claire Cooper, a woman who has a
supernatural connection to the mind of a killer. Release dates of 23 April for Denmark and
13 May for Slovakia have been announced so far - no UK release dates yet. It promises to
be an interesting film though from what I've heard.

THE IMPOSTORS - the riddle has
been solved! At the Sundance chat with Aidan, the riddle as to Aidan's role in The
Impostors (in which Aidan's wife Elizabeth has a role) was finally solved: yes,
he was supposed to be in the film, but due to another, more favourable offer
coming in (I assume 50 Violins), Billy Connolly ended up playing the part that
was originally Aidan's.
- WINGS AGAINST THE WIND - A bit more
info about Wings Against The Wind, another film Aidan has been cast in. The
feature film is apparently about the first licensed black pilot, Bessie Coleman. Aidan's
co-stars in this film, which is being directed and produced by Euzhan Palcy (A Dry White
Season), will include Angela Bassett, Danny Glover, Gerard Dépardieu, Don Cheadle,
Richard Brooks and Vondie Curtis-Hall. I am not sure what Aidan's role will be, nor where
it's filming or when it's expected to wrap up (if it hasn't already), but will let you
know when I find out more.
January
1999
***50 VIOLINS
LATEST - Aidan was last year cast for a new film, 50 Violins, which stars
Meryl Streep and Gloria Estefan amongst others. It started filming on 26 October in New
York and is scheduled to wrap up (or at least Aidan will be finishing) in the first
week of February. Aidan plays the male lead opposite Meryl. The film is based on the
life of inner-city violin teacher Roberta Tsavares, and Aidan will be playing a former
high school friend who meets up with her again and becomes her lover. Thanks to Quinnfan
on the board for the news scoop and to Kate for the research!
The film, which is apparently a remake of the 1986 Allen Miller film "Small
Wonders", now has a tentative US release date for July 1999.
***PRACTICAL MAGIC RELEASED IN THE UK - At last! The long wait is
over. Practical Magic was finally released in the UK cinemas on Friday, 22 January 1999!
Go see it! He's in it for about half the film, but I certainly thought it was well worth
it!
This is the update for other European countries: PM's release dates for
Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and
Switzerland should all have been in December. Its Hungary premiere was scheduled for 7
January, Netherlands 14 January, Slovakia 28 February, Bulgaria 5 February and Slovakia 11
February.
Other countries: Israel's, Singapore's and South Korea's release dates were all scheduled
for December, Argentina's for 7 January, Australia for 4 February and finally Brazil for
19 February (tbc).
***PRACTICAL MAGIC UK RELEASE DATE?? I'm still in the dark about the release date of
Practical Magic in the UK, so if any of you know anything about it, let me know! As
far as I know, the release date I was given by my little spy at WB is still:
22 January 1999
As for other European countries, the release dates now look as follows: it was released
in the German part of Switzerland on 18 December, in France & Belgium 16 December,
Germany 17 Dec, Finland & Sweeden 25 December, Portugal & Iceland 18 Dec, Denmark
19 February, Hungary & Netherlands 14 Jan, Slovakia 28 Jan, Bulgaria 5 Feb, and the
ever-changing Slovakia now 11 February.
Other countries: Brazil 19 Feb (tbc) and South Korea should have had the release on 12
December.
December 1998
***UK RELEASE DATE FOR THE IMPOSTORS! The Impostors, in
which Aidan has a small role and in which his wife Elizabeth also has a role (I still have
got virtually no info about it, though I heard he might be playing Elizabeth's husband in
this film), was released in the UK on 11 December. Any comments/feedback from people
who've seen it would be very much appreciated! (I have no other release dates for The
Impostors)

***New Film!- - -Aidan has been cast for a new film, 50 Violins, which
