News from the Front

Turn 1 :     April / 6834

There were muted celebrations on Commonwealth planets throughout Rift County at the news that the former Commonwealth world Fort Fortuitus has been liberated from TOG. Word has reached us that TOG forces fled to the hills and Commonwealth Forces landed unopposed. Congratulations to all involved. It looks like the Commonwealth is on the offensive for a change.

Other news. An attempted invasion by CW/RL forces of the TOG held system of Arecibo was thwarted due to the large number of TOG fleet units present in the system. More news as we have it.

News has come in of an assault on the New Jamestown VLCA.  Word from the planetary defences is yet to be received. It is suspected that a TOG Carrier squadron launched an attack on the VLCA.  This has not been confirmed yet.  A transcript of the last transmission from the VLCA is available here.

Updated news on the New Jamestown VLCA attack. Apparently TOG sent an entire fleet to assault the system.  Recon forces have yet to confirm the situation in New Jamestown.

Turn 2 :    May / 6834

Good news has arrived from the TOG occupied world of Nuggetz.  Commonwealth ground forces have succeeded in destroying a TOG legion and severely damaging another TOG legion on the planet.  Commonwealth forces took only light casualties. More details are available here.

Word is coming in of a large naval battle occuring in the TOG occupied system of Caer Cydonya.  Admiral Nogueira engaged the Grand Generals squadron at Caer Cydonya. The results were inconclusive, with Admiral Nogueira being forced to withdraw due to enemy numbers. The Admiral destroyed a few TOG ships at the price of severe damage to a destroyer.

More news from Caer Cydonya. Admiral Nogueira engaged the Grand Generals squadron but the action was inconclusive once again. Damage was taken on both sides.

TOG Praetorian guards land at Caer Cydonya. The TOG legion already present is badly damaged by Special forces and Marine units. Our forces are waiting to stike.
Our forces have engaged the TOG Infantry Legion on planet (the 107th) and almost completely destroyed it. Unfortunately the TOG Praetorian unit on planet badly damaged the green Commonwealth Strike legion on planet. The 65th RPGL has taken no damage.
6951st B'ekkal Legion and 20479th RIL are under heavy attack on Fort Fortuitus. A TOG Praetorian guard legion engaged and nearly destroyed the the 20479th Renegade Infantry Legion. Our units are requesting that we extract them from the surface of the planet.

News from Scapa Flow . Our reinforcement legions were unable to drop onto the planet. We can only presume this was due to large numbers of enemy Fleet units. The three legions on planet are engaged heavily but as of yet there are no conclusive results. They face 3 TOG legions one of which is a Praetorian Guard unit. All of our legions on planet are regular units. This news bodes ill for our forces on planet. The blockade must be broken.

Elsewhere throughout the two counties our legions have come under heavy attack from TOG forces. County reserves are rushing to reinforce our units on liberated worlds.

Turn 3 : October 6834

Glorious news from Caer Cydonya!   A report on TNN (the propaganda channel for TOG) has confirmed what was already suspected by our intelligence sources.  The TOG Grand General Aurellius is dead!  Elements of the 4th Cohort, 65th Renegade Praetorian guard were involved on an assault on a front line position and discovered that the GG was in the area.   A   team from the 1249th Special Forces Regiment had orders to investigate the position and after locating the Grand General called in an artillery HELL missile strike.    It was impossible to confirm whether the GG had been killed as the team had to leave the area shortly before the strike.  No transports were seen leaving before the missile hit so it was presumed that GG Aurellius had been killed.

The hiatus is over.  Having consolidated our gains in both Rift and Yoventrov counties, severly disrupted the TOG command structure, and drawing the attention of Ceasar from other parts of the Galaxy our offensive continues.    May it be as successful in the future as it has already been.

As an interesting aside Admiral Nogueira of 14796th Commonwealth Battleship Squadron has decided to begin publsishing his memoirs.  The first installment is available here.

Word is coming in of a major naval battle occuring in Caer Cydonya.  Awaiting transmission

Admiral Noguiera reports heavy engagement with 3 TOG Aggressor squadrons.  Making a characteristically brave decision he decided to try and hold off the TOG forces in order to give our legions the best chance of hitting dirt safely.  Despite his best efforts the squadron took heavy damage and lost a cruiser at which point the squadron withdrew to reorganise.

Newsflash! Victory in Caer Cydonya.  Commonwelath and Renegade naval forces in system have utterly destroyed the TOG 73011 Light Carrier squadron.  A display of tactical brilliance by the {Designation Classified}  squadron resulted in a flanking maneuver on the TOG line of battle, exposing the Carrier squadron.  All CW and RenegadeNaval units withdrew after battle to reorganise.  TOG currently controls orbit of the planet (minus a CV squadron).   Our sympathies go out to the families of the crew of the Cruiser destroyed in the action.   It is small consolation perhaps but their sacrifice helped acheive this victory.  They will be remembered.

News from Psyronia.  While our ground forces landed safely it was by the skin of their teeth.  Fast action by RADM Gistive saw the reinforcement regiment to the ground safely.  The squadron then reformed with the 1983rd BBS and are awaiting new orders.  The situation on planet is tenous.  4 TOG legions now face 3 of ours plus the newly arrived 133rd Baufrin Armoured Regiment.

Scapa Flow reports the safe landing of the 3 reinforcement legions with no interference from TOG naval units.   18th Fleet is safely ensconced in system (with support from elements of the 7th Fleet). The situation on planet is 7 CW/RL Legions versus 3 TOG (including 1 Praetorian Guard unit).   Without reinforcements the TOG units on planet are doomed.  Its simply a matter of time.  Whether TOG gives us the time is the question.

Sad news from Fort Fortuitus.  It has been reported that the 20479th Renegade Infantry Legion has been destroyed by the TOG 82nd Praetorian Legion on planet.  In an astounding display of atrocity the TOG legion executed every member of the 20479th including the sick and wounded.  The Praetorians managed to cut off the legion from its B'ekkal counterpart despite the best efforts of the 20479th's Prefect.  All CW/RL legions have been withdrawn from the planet.  Memorial services have been scheduled throughout the Commonwealth.

We have this statement on the matter from Field Marshal Cox :

"I am sure that every member of this command feels, as I do, outrage at the way TOG executed every last legionnaire of the 20479th, including the wounded who could no longer defend themselves. Such behavior only reinforces in me the belief that TOG is a cancer upon all sentient life.  This malignancy must be removed if we are to have any chance of long life and happiness."

The Renegade high command has offered a substantial reward for the heads of the TOG 82nd Praetorian guard Legions's command staff.  They are also offering a reward for the return of the 20479th Legions standard.
