Neil Gaiman

Neil Gaiman was born November 10, 1960 in the United Kingdom. He currently divides his time between the United States and the UK. He has written numerous short stories, screen plays, poetry and comic books. He is also the author of the novel Neverwhere, created the BBC Television program of the same name, he wrote the illustrated novel Stardust with Charles Vess, he also wrote Don't Panic; The Official Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Companion, he co-wrote the novel Good Omens with Terry Pratchett, and created the characters of the Endless, for the DC comics Vertigo imprint title The Sandman, the most well known of which are Dream, and Death. The other members of the Endless include; Desire, Delirium, Destruction, Despair, and Destiny. Neil is also currently working on and attached to a number of movie productions. His most recent novel is titled American Gods, and has received many great reviews.

Neil insists that comics are "real" literature and donates much of his time and work on defending the rights of comic creators. Included among his fans, friends, and often collaboraters, are; Stephen King, Clive Barker, Tori Amos, Alice Cooper, Dave Mckean and Harlan Ellison. I was fortunate enough to meet Neil a few years ago. He was very kind and gracious to me, and despite my own geekish nervousness, and the fact that I brought to a sudden end the very nice conversation he had begun with me, I greatly enjoyed meeting him.
